Roobet Cup 2022FaZe take down ENCE to secure spot in Roobet Cup semi-final
Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's men have been eliminated in the first round of playoffs.
FaZe have qualified for the semi-final of the Roobet Cup 2022 after their 2-0 sweep of ENCE. The international squad played a great CT side on their opponents' pick of Ancient (16-10) before closing the series with another massive defensive effort in a comeback on Overpass (16-12), avenging their loss at IEM Dallas.
The Finn "karrigan" Andersen-led squad now waits for the result of the match between FORZE and Astralis, facing the winner on Wednesday at 19:00 .
After topping Group C with victories over Eternal Fire and MOUZ, ENCE's run at the online event came to an end in the quarter-finals. Despite having a good record against FaZe in recent months, the European mix was unable to take down the giants on this occasion.
ENCE decided to bring the series to Ancient, their most successful map in recent times, but they did not get off to a tremendous offensive half. Snappi took the opening pistol with four frags, gifting his team an early 3-0 lead, but they quickly ran out of steam. karrigan made a change to the CT of FaZe, swapping positions with Håvard "rain" Nygaard, and it worked a treat. The two veterans locked down the B site from their new positions alongside Helvijs "broky" Saukants as FaZe cruised to an 11-4 scoreline ahead of the break.
The Major champions then took a minute to find their footing on the T side, and ENCE were happy to take advantage of their temporary weakness, reducing their deficit to 9-11. After their initial struggles, FaZe eventually found their first offensive round on the A site and they followed it up with a good streak, closing the map 16-10.
Facing elimination, ENCE needed to get something out of Overpass if they wanted to have a fighting chance to take the series home. Following the loss in the first pistol round, ENCE played out a solid CT half once the rifles came into play and stole nine consecutive rounds on the back of a few moments of brilliance from Paweł "dycha" Dycha and Pavle "Maden" Bošković. After a fantastic defensive half, Snappi's men switched to the offense with a solid 11-4 advantage, hoping to replicate's FaZe closure from the first map.
Unfortunately for them, karrigan's CT side proved a tough nut to crack once again, and broky and Robin "ropz" Kool made it all the more difficult. FaZe only dropped one more round after halftime on their way to a 16-12 victory on their map pick, closing the series with a swift 2-0.
