Nigma Galaxy secure second ESL Impact title

The European team bested their nemesis FURIA fe convincingly in the final.

Nigma Galaxy solidified their status as the dominant women CS:GO team with a comfortable 2-0 victory in the ESL Impact Valencia final, besting FURIA fe 16-8 on Dust2 and 16-11 on Vertigo.

In what was a repeat of the previous Impact final, we had a repeat result as well, although in more dominant fashion as this time FURIA fe couldn’t take a map from the eventual champions.

ANa once again led the way throughout the tournament for Nigma Galaxy

Ultimately Nigma Galaxy were good value for the trophy having not dropped a single map on their way to victory; the closest they were run was in a 16-11 victory against FURIA fe on Vertigo in the final.

As with the Impact Season 1 Finals in Dallas Ana "ANa" Dumbravă was Nigma's best rated player throughout the tournament, but they also had Ksenia "vilga" Kluenkova, Victoria "tory" Kazieva and Katarína "Kat" Vašková in the top-eight rated players such was their dominance.

Despite underperforming in a losing effort in the final Olga "Olga" Rodrigues of FURIA fe was actually the highest rated player at the event, posting a 1.41 across 6 maps.

Two teams that made top four in Dallas were unable to make it out of groups this time around, with CLG Red falling to MIBR fe in Group B whilst NAVI Javelins grabbed a playoff spot at the expense of BIG EQUIPA in Group A, requiring overtime on two maps to do so.

The final standings for ESL Impact Valencia are as follows:

1. Russia Nigma Galaxy ($50,000)
2. Brazil FURIA fe ($20,000)
3-4. Poland NAVI Javelins ($10,000)
3-4. Brazil MIBR fe ($10,000)

5-6. Portugal BIG EQUIPA ($3,000)

8 out of 10 players have their nickname based on their real name. Gz to nigma, they're the best female team by far.

Nah bruv, that's like saying level of NA CS will only rise if they keep playing other NA teams. We had that in 2020-21 and the NA scene still hasn't recovered from that... Only way FE teams can get better is by not playing against FE teams, but they're not good enough for normal competition, so it's a catch 22.

Well the point I'm making is different. They play against more people than just other women on faceit and esea open and etc. The point is that when these events continue, more teams will want to participate and more women will want to participate - play CS. That will result in the rise of skill because more people playing CS = more skilled players among them.

Theoretically, yes. But I don't think it will actually result in more girls playing CS. They're simply not interested in FPS games and competitive ones in general. Giving bigger prize money for FE tourneys to enlarge the playerbase is like blowing against the wind IMO.

Why don't you let them decide if they want to play cs or not. I think the result won't show immediately, maybe it will take a few years. But it's definitely a step in the right direction

Am I, or anyone else stopping them? Maybe it will boost the numbers a bit, but if you only start playing some game/sport to make money, then you're probably not gonna make it. The reason they want to boost it is bussiness, potential for more viewers/players in the future, but that seems super unlikely. Then again, it's their money, so do whatever you want ESL.

I think they need more event where winner maybe runner up will get inv to tier 2 events where they will be fucked hard at the start but they might get better at some point they can qualify to these event without invites.

I think this was used in the past and didn't work very well. This whole impact series should theoreticaly lead to women's teams/teams with women being confident enough to try some open qualifiers for tier 2 tournaments (there are plenty of them).
