Complexity bench junior, sign hallzerk

The North American squad looks toward a European import for the sniper position.

Announced on Thursday by Complexity on Twitter, Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson has been moved to a substitute position within the team, while Håkon "⁠hallzerk⁠" Fjærli, formerly of Dignitas, has joined. The American AWPer joined the organization at the start of 2022 when Complexity signed the core of Extra Salt, and spent almost seven months with the team.

hallzerk most recently played with the Swedish Dignitas, having joined in 2020 as a part of the NIP reunion lineup. The 22-year-old was one of the best players on the team, sporting a 1.09 rating in the past 12 months.

junior will assess his team options

While Complexity showed promise when being signed in January of 2022, the roster fell short of many expectations. A common target of criticism was junior, who holds a rating of 0.98 over the 75 maps played with this Complexity. The squad did qualify for its first Major, but were only able to defeat the Mongolian IHC in the Challengers stage.

Being a BLAST partner team, Complexity will debut their new lineup at the BLAST Fall Groups in August, a tournament sure to feature many other roster changes as it is the first tier one event following the tournament break.

haha. True. Best rating and it is around or below 1.00. Honestly, Junior was a problem, but Fang, Grim or Floppy were not gamechanger either. Junior is just the tip of the iceberg. They need massive changes (in terms of gameplan and/or in terms of players).

When you can’t stay on a team to save your life, something is clearly wrong, and he is always the one getting cut. Doesn’t matter if he is slightly better right now if the team is fucked in a month. With Hallzerk they can actually improve as a team, which will far outweigh any slight edge Smooya holds on an individual level.

If he did want to play he could easily find a better team than complexity interested in him, hell, almost every top team should want him. Whether or not any team could pay the buyout nip wants is a different story.

I would guess that igls who are stuck in online tier 2/3 competition would consider moving to an org like coL who has some decent pieces and invite spots to work with. AcilioN and msl comes to mind to name some danish ones. Perhaps if they got the nescessary resources to restructure the team and Pick the players who should stay. Its a waste that Jt is playing Pro league esque tournaments while these guys are playing open qualifiers imo

Junior couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, so I'm not sure why anyone thinks Hallzerk could possibly be worse or even close to on par with that. Never in my life have I seen an awper sit at .83 after THREE MONTHS. I guess they're playing in EU, but jesus fucking christ... Hallzerk is actually pretty solid, but he played in a retirement home for so long. This team needs a rebuild. One of the worst team performances we've seen in a while. I don't see how a team could shit the bed this badly unless they are complacent and not practicing.

Risky decision but I like it! Hallzerk is a good awper that can become great with the right tools. I hope he manages to find his place in the team so he can improve as a player and I hope coL prepared a big enough ketchup supply for him ;)

Oh he's for sure part of the problem. I'm not denying that. I'm just saying. Complexity seem to get tactically outplayed every single game they play. Wouldn't that then come down to the shot caller and coach? I could be wrong, I'm not on the team, I have no real idea
