SteelSeries announce Nova Invitational tournament

The $10,000 competition will feature FaZe, OG, and Tricked.

Gaming peripherals and accessories manufacturer SteelSeries announced the Nova Invitational, a one-day event which will award competitors a total of $10,000 in prize money. The tournament will take place on August 13 and will feature a single elimination bracket with best-of-one semi-finals and a best-of-three grand final.

There are only three confirmed teams invited to the event so far, Tricked, OG, and the world's best team, FaZe. The Nova Invitational will be the first time these teams will be in action since the player break began, and it will be Abdul "⁠degster⁠" Gasanov's official debut with OG after a fruitful stint as a stand-in at BLAST Premier Spring Final.

OG won the SteelSeries Invitational in 2021, but the team has gone through a complete roster change since then. The current lineup, led by Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković, finished off the first half of 2022 on a high note, reaching the BLAST Premier Spring Final semi-finals and will try to build upon the previous feats.

FaZe's current status as the No. 1 team in the world and their pre-break IEM Cologne victory still puts them as clear front-runners to take the summer invitational among the announced teams.
