phzy joins Sangal on loan

The young Swede goes international after leaving Young Ninjas on loan.

Sangal have announced that 19-year-old AWPer Love "phzy" Smidebrant will be joining their roster just under two weeks after it was revealed that Efekan "S3NSEY" Topaloglu was being moved to the bench whilst the Austrian completed his nine-month civil service duty.

phzy, who achieved a top-four finish at ESL Pro League and a second-place finish at IEM Winter during temporary stints with the main Ninjas in Pyjamas roster, stated via his own Twitter account that the move is a one-year loan.

phzy will forge his path on an international roster

Youngster phzy had been looking for a team since late April when Young Ninjas announced they were releasing him, Linus "LNZ" Holtäng and Anton "Sapec" Palmgren as they looked to bring fresh blood in for their academy project.

The AWPer did however remain contracted to the organisation and has continued to get gametime for Young Ninjas, participating in a run to second at Svenska Elitserien Spring and a 5th-6th place finish in WePlay Academy League Season 4 in June. He finished as the team's highest rated player in both events.

The Turkish organisation phzy joins has housed a European roster ever since dropping the Turkish core of Engin "ngiN" Kor, Ahmet "paz" Karahoca and Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli late in 2021, picking up Kornél "kory" Szedlár, Robin "ScrunK" Röpke and Can "kyuubii" Ali early this year.

In 2022 the team achieved modest success, finishing second in ESEA Advanced Season 40 Europe and qualifying for the ESL Challenger League, as well as picking up another second-place finish in Esport Tour 2022 Series 2 amongst a field featuring some solid tier-two teams. Their biggest feat, though, was reaching the RMR.

Sangal did also experience some difficulties this year, finishing last in ESL Challenger League, therefore being immediately relegated back to ESEA Advanced, and struggling to make much headway in the world rankings where they peaked in 55th place.

Sangal are now:

Hungary Kornél "kory" Szedlár
Germany Robin "ScrunK" Röpke
Germany Can "kyuubii" Ali
Turkey Caner "soulfly" Kesici
Sweden Love "phzy" Smidebrant

Germany Tugay "TuGuX" Keskin (coach)

Austria Efekan "S3NSEY" Topaloglu (benched)

Most orgs dont care about winning tourneys for their acc team, they just wanna build players, once they are good enough, they just want to sell em if they can

still $45k prize money for 1st spot, he could have made the difference in season 5 especially with Mouz NXT playing bad

The org sees little of that money compared to selling off a player is my understanding

Prize money goes to the players I think. Little % of that money goes to the org.

Weird to see this roster change but better to be on an actual team than be on an academy , let alone it's bench ! Good luck Phzy !

Sangal doesn't even have a good team to begin with, but I guess phzy just wants to play and get paid to do so? The only other good player on the team is Soulfly though. Everyone else is pretty bad.
