Heroic repeat win over BIG to advance to Group C final

Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller's side will take on FaZe in a rematch, where a spot at the end of the gauntlet bracket will be on the line.

HEROIC are through to the Group C final after securing a second win over BIG, denying the German side the chance to claim revenge after they had been bested by cadiaN's men in their opening match. The match was equally close this time around, requiring HEROIC to recover from deficits in both halves to complete their comeback.

"Making the comeback when the pressure is on, when you're sweating, you're down T side Nuke at 14-12 or whatever it is, everyone needs to make the correct moves every single step and my boys did it, so I'm proud," cadiaN said in an interview after the game.

That comeback effort was thanks in part to the Danish team's clear edge in first kills, winning 20 of the 30 duels in the map. More importantly though, it was the efforts of Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund and Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck, who stepped up in crucial late-round situations to bring things over the line for their side. HEROIC will next take on FaZe in the final match of Group C, with the winner earning in a spot in the third round of the gauntlet bracket.

It was a brutal start to the map for HEROIC, who couldn't put a halt to BIG's methodical and slow approach to attacking outside. The German team were successful in their early attempts at misdirection and crawls into the lower bombsite thanks in part to stellar rifle work from Johannes "⁠tabseN⁠" Wodarz, who helped BIG establish an early 5-0 lead.

HEROIC's first gun round win was also immediately responded to by BIG to put the Danes in danger of losing in a lopsided half, but a quad kill from sjuush to recover a 3vs5 situation stopped things from spiraling out of control as HEROIC stabilized. stavn put in some good work to help his team crawl back and regain control, a number of multi-kill rounds combining with continued fragging from sjuush to put HEROIC narrowly ahead at the break, leading 8-7.

Another strong start for BIG unfolded at the start of the second half, allowing them to regain the lead and pull ahead, 12-9. However, stavn once again stepped up massively for his team, securing an ace as he helped recover a 2vs4 situation on a force-buy round to entirely swing the momentum of the map. From there, HEROIC were the ones in firm control, René "⁠TeSeS⁠" Madsen securing some key double kills en route to helping his side edge out the map 16-14.
