ESL cancels IEM China, moves EPL Conference Season 17

The tournament organiser has made several adjustments to its calendar.

ESL will not be hosting an IEM event in China this year, the tournament organiser announced via Twitter. The news comes in light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country.

Prior to the pandemic ESL had regularly hosted events in China, with the last being the IEM Beijing tournament in 2019 that was won by Astralis. IEM China would have seen the organiser return to the country, and was originally intended to take place December 6-11, but that event has now been removed from the calendar.

IEM Beijing 2019 was the last international LAN ESL hosted in China

The move comes as an unfortunate blow to the Asian region, with members of the community already lamenting an apparent lack of support. The most recent manifestation of these complaints were directed at the four-team RMR hosted in the APAC region, compared to the 32 teams competing in Europe and the 16 competing in the Americas.

ESL included an additional announcement in the Twitter thread, stating that EPL Conference Season 17 is being moved to take place in 2023, having been originally scheduled for November 22-27. This is to avoid clashing with BLAST Premier Fall Final, taking place November 23-27.

East Asian CS scene is only local(I don't know it is right word), Even in depeloped country like Japan/Korea/Philiepine/Indonesia pros are gone so ESL seems not want to host CS tour in dead-scene country? maybe but Mongolia is respectable suggestion.

Even if piggieback... TIer-1.5 events like ESL challenger Valencia/Melbourne(or even Pinnacle cup) brong much hype than I expected. Especially feeling like familior/easier-to-get-in, so I really want ESL challenger HongKong/Tokyo/Seoul near future, cuz I will be Tokyo next year... prayge

Asia is just so unfortunate lately, I'm really sad for this region, I still remeber that TYLOO team that almost hit the TOP 10, they were so enjoyable to watch because their style was completely different, I hope there will be a good Asian team again some day. Rare Atom has been looking decent, maybe there's hope for those boys.

The thing is, Malaysians love and play dota and it's much popular than cs, ah you probably know it yourself based on your flag, i think it's not profitable for ESL to host cs event there

Most of the western country are relieving the COVID restriction. When China cases are continue to rise. What they do right now It’s a form of protecting the health care systems and the people. Don’t be surprised when you see event cancels like this.
