Day three matchups for European RMRs

Things are heating up as the European RMRs head toward crunch time.

With the second day of play concluded in Malta, the teams that will be battling for the first qualification berths to Rio are known, as well as the teams who will be fighting to keep their Major dreams alive.

Any teams facing elimination or qualification will be playing best of threes from here on out, in other words the teams in the 2-0 or 0-2 brackets. For the teams at 1-1, they will have one more round of best of ones.

Despite being forced to overtime twice, FaZe are on the verge of qualifying

Most of the names vying for qualification from the European RMR A are predictable, however there is one surprise package as Sprout will face off against FaZe after they bested both FORZE and Spirit to go 2-0. Cloud9 will take on Ninjas in Pyjamas in the other qualification bout.

Over in the European RMR B, Natus Vincere have a match against Outsiders to see who will be first to book their ticket to Rio, whilst ENCE will be hoping their new roster continues to click against BIG, who impressively bested Vitality to seal their 2-0 record. ENCE and BIG will be the only squads to play their 2-0 series on Friday.

The matchups for round three are as follows:

Europe RMR A

2-0 matchups (Bo3)

Europe FaZe vs Denmark Sprout
Russia Cloud9 vs Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas

ofc they will have to play weaker teams as the #1 seed. getting sprout as their bo3 opponent is super lucky tho

faze has 0 Bucholz score, Sprout has -2, also NiP and Cloud9 have 0, in that case, they used rmr seedings, where faze is n1 (ofc, they won the major) NiP is seed 3 in the group (fell in playoffs) and Cloud9 is seed5 (Legends stage) not luck, when you play better, you have the reward of playing against "easier" teams, aswell if you play worse, you have the "punish". TBH bucholz system shouldn't be used, they should use seeding, because if not, you depend too much about other's results

What people mean by lucky is, they barely won against some of the worst teams in the RmR. If they played against any other tier 1 or even tier 2, they would have 100% lost and might not have even qualified to the major with the way they're playing

been like that for the past 6 months or something, they always get normally free/easy paths to a final yet still end up struggling/choking..

Hurts to say but shouldn't the NiP flag be a EU flag instead of a swedish one?

Still has a swedish core. You need to have at least 3 players from the same country to keep the country flag

3 players is enough for a country flag, liquid and sprout for example

How does I work for legend status vs challenger status? 4 for group A but 3 for group B, doesn't seem fair. Also Swiss system has 2 teams go through 3-0 and 3 teams advance with 3-1 record; which of those 3 get legend status?

depending on the number of last Major playoffs team

Its 7 legends spots for 2 groups, one of them will have one more spot, that spot is decides next way: Group with 4 spots: 2 spots for 3-0 teams The team with 3-1 record with more bucholz score get legend spot and the other 2 teams play a Bo1 to decide last spot In the 3 legends spot group work almost same but the two teams with 3-1 record and highest bucholz score play between them to decide the third spot

Dont forget also that 4 teams go to Challenger in B whereas only 2 from A and means 2 teams in Contenders for A and 1 for B.. its a fair system.. im sure G2 or Fnatic would love group b's format atm considering only 1 can get the challenger spot in A, maybe neither if results go against them.. whereas they both could have still gotten Challenger

Losing to Nip seems like big brain strategy from glaive just to avoid going 2-0 and to play bo3 against cloud9. C9 would have easily defeated astralis

Yeah. They also dropped the match in order to get more game time, to play more. 300 IQ move by glaive.

He also didn't want to be a legend at the major, so he can play more games. He definitely threw that game on purpose. Literally the smartest IGL in the world.
