1WIN upset G2; Monte and Sangal face elimination following day 3 losses

1win, Vitality, and HEROIC secured victories, with the three teams now moving on to the 2-1 pool.

The third day of action is now well underway, with the list of teams with a genuine chance of qualifying for the Major becoming increasingly clear. The 1-1 pool of matches is nearing its end, with just two BO1s left to be played. 1win, HEROIC, and Vitality are now one BO3 win away from qualifying for the Major following their wins, with the Group B progression matches coming on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Sangal, G2, and Monte move into elimination BO3 matches. Group A's 1-2 pool is starting to look like a scary prospect, with G2 joining the likes of Astralis and fnatic.

G2 are now one loss away from elimination

HEROIC battled Sangal on Inferno, with Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and company securing the win in dominant fashion. The Danes overcame a slow start by coming back on the CT side, before putting together a flawless T side to close out the game 16-6. Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund was the star performer for the favorites, putting up 105 ADR and a 100% KAST rating to get HEROIC into the 2-1 pool.

G2 met 1win on Ancient, with the CIS squad securing the upset in a close-fought game. The underdog team prevailed with a 16-13 score, Igor "⁠lollipop21k⁠" Solodkov being their best performer with 26 kills. An uninspired Terrorist half that yielded them just four rounds cost G2, despite Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač having a fantastic game. The Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen-led team now need two BO3 victories to secure their spot at the Major.

The next match was another one-sided game, with Vitality emerging victorious in their game against Monte on Dust2. Both pistol rounds for Monte enabled them to get good starts to both halves, but the reigning EPL champions brought the scoreline back each time to secure the game 16-7. The favorites would have an even easier time of it, if not for Joel "⁠joel⁠" Holmlund, who was far and away his team's best performer with a 1.35 rating.
