Astralis knocked out of Europe RMR by forZe

The Russian squad will go to the 2-2 pool for a final chance at qualifying for IEM Rio.

FORZE put the last nail in Astralis' coffin at IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR A with a 2-0 victory in the 1-2 pool. The Danish organization will therefore miss its first ever Major, dating all the way back to its first at MLG Columbus 2016.

The Russian squad won two incredibly close maps, Mirage and Nuke, both going the whole distance and ending 16-14 in the favor of Andrey "⁠Jerry⁠" Mekhryakov and his men.

It was 20-year-old Aleksandr "⁠shalfey⁠" Marenov who starred for his team, surpassing 50 frags in the two-map series with 52 kills while averaging a 1.37 rating and 86.2 ADR.

Astralis did not survive the European RMR, going out 1-3

The first map of the series was a shocker, with Astralis unable to close out a 13-4 lead on Mirage that would put FORZE in the tough situation having lost their map pick. Instead, the Russian squad won 12 out of 13 rounds on the CT side to edge their way past the Danes 16-14.

Astralis showed signs of recovery on their Nuke pick, winning six rounds on the attack and remaining well in contention to turn things around on the defense, even going on to take a 12-11 lead at one point.

From there on out FORZE turned the game on its head, winning three in a row to lead 14-12 before back-and-forth rounds ended up with Aleksandr "⁠zorte⁠" Zagodyrenko and company claiming the series to survive to play at the RMR another day.

What does it feel like to run an eSports org? You take some young adult with no education or job prospects and pay them 200k+ per year, with the opportunity to earn prize money and tons of other bonuses. Then instead of being grateful and working hard to earn results for themselves and the organization, they bitch at the coaching staff, don't show up to meetings, do nothing to market the brand, do dumb things and get injured, etc. You must feel like the biggest joke in the world. If I were going to start an eSports brand, I would probably exclusively hire CIS players because at least they seem to take advantage of the opportunities they are given despite all the problems they have to deal with in their scene. I don't know why any org wastes their time paying for European players when this is what it gets them.

true, the amount of rounds they lost because blame was left in 1v3 situations because he was lurking very passively is countless. he would get 1 or 2 kills every round like that but still die to the last guy on trade or bomb timer. he puts up numbers but it doesn't matter since most of them are exit frags on lost rounds. but he's still goated player and needs better teammates or some change in the strat book

deserved i would say , been looking barebones of a team lately. with all the rumored changes flying around , this is a better result. That way they can just go ahead with the changes instead of beating around the bush by prolonging the suffering with the next month of the Major. we get Device, get some decent rifler like Fessor or someone from Sprout and we can go somewhere. man i dont think BlameF will ever workout with glaive, i am haveing horrible feelings if they bring back device and other riflers and blameF still dont change his playstyle he might ruin the chances of astralis comeback after this major.

i am operating on the thought that Astralis wouldnt be wasting this much time and resources on Device just to let Blame bait him too. Its a fact that Glaive post-Device hasnt shown much faith or given much room to his other awpers but i honestly dont see the same happening with the Prodigal Son returning either. I am sad and also aware that the Org Astralis is really bad. They have been too focused on making money on the short term, I could tell just by the apparel I bought from them was the worst quality at the highest prices in the scene.. I really like the players, mostly from the old squad obviously, but I am done with the org who needs a reality check. They have a bad business model, and the actual esports part of it is a second citizen. Just saying it as it is, greed takes another project to the grave. I do not really care if they rebuild, the org is in my eyes bad, the end.
