The Bosnian superstar commented on G2's debacle at the RMR.

G2 and Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač's shared streak of attending 11 Majors in a row has been broken as the international roster suffered elimination from the IEM Rio qualifier after a loss to GamerLegion.

A 2-1 defeat to the Frederik "⁠acoR⁠" Gyldstrand-powered side came after a 16-0 victory over ECSTATIC and defeats to majorly-Russian sides Cloud9 and 1win, seeing G2 end the event with a 1W-3L score.

The players of G2 were visibly heartbroken after the loss and took to Twitter to share their feelings after a historic failure. NiKo pointed out that this loss struck him even harder than previous grand final losses, such as those in the PGL Stockholm and ELEAGUE Boston Majors.

NiKo was lost for words after the defeat to GamerLegion

"I tried to write something, I tried to record something to explain myself, but I don’t really know what to say," NiKo said on Twitter. "I lost many important finals, but I've never felt this empty and this much pain. Do not take things for granted in life. Never feel satisfied. Always try to do better."

He continued in a follow-up Tweet, explaining how much missing the Major in Brazil means to him: "This will probably be the two toughest months in my career, you can hate all you want, it’s well deserved. But you won’t see me give up. That I can promise."

G2 eliminated from RMR, fnatic keep Major dream alive

His teammate and cousin Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač was short, agreeing that this result is the "worst feeling ever in my career." The newest signing and team in-game leader Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen added that he "felt like I did what I could."

"I won't be sorry for my effort, but my performance. Hopefully, we will get back on the right track ASAP," the Dane concluded.

The team's coach, Rémy "⁠XTQZZZ⁠" Quoniam pointed to a lack of confidence as the main issue. "We started to doubt for nothing and we lost all that we worked for two months. Losing confidence in a tournament like this is immediately punished. I can't forget what we did before the RMR and after. Worst feeling in my whole career."

After an early elimination from the Major cycle, G2's next scheduled event is the BLAST Premier Fall Finals set to take place on November 23-27.

Imo g2 didn't change nexa and alexib because they were the problem but needed to upgrade their lineup without mooving nico & hunter. Jacks and amanek wasn't a problem but any of these players was relevant when the team was fighting t1 teams. I remembered Karrigan saying that i didn't want to stay in astralis if they didn't commit to his system and both parties made the right move. That's maybe what happened with Alexib

This mental block is causing massive issues inside this team. Bruh… very sad indeed! Everyone on the team underperformed and then got nervous and missed bunch of shots. It happens… BO1 tournament is always risky… we almost had Faze 0-2 in the first 2 matches and then struggle with Sprout. G2 will come back, shame for Rio… probably the craziest major ever. Lots of teams shaky, mid teams hungry for stickers, acor reborn, Astralis not even funny anymore, just sad, pls retire half team, NIP ez qualified but will not pass the group… all this makes me happy cause never we had such a even odds for the major winner! Anyone can beat anyone! So excited for the Rio!

G2 has a good thing going with this team, I hope they've got lost when they've got countered and they've had no responses. Which is natural for such a young team with such a heavy change, new IGL in place while also old one did not do much, plus stars changing stuff around - it's huge and this was within expectations to be 100% honest here. I hope they use this sadness to bounce back, because they can. Groundwork they've put in shows promises of a very strong and a very fun team to watch.

You must have missed kenny's latest performances (euphesmism) he has been awful for years now. That's why he is not even in a t2 FR team. NiKo should have been the one taking up the AWPing duties anyway, he tried it for like a week or two but didn't give it the proper time to be successful like device i.e. Anyway the only thing they lacked was an AWPer, so at best change 1 guy ( out Jackz for monesy and make amanek jack of all trades imo ). Everyone wants results right away, but that's impossible. When NiKo came to G2 the first performances were great and then Amanek was replaced with Jackz and bad games started. Then NiKo on awp and Kenny on the bench, then Amanek awp so that after aleksib and monesy came hooxi and jks. That's a lot of changes in such a short time and it's no surprise that the game is changing. It's the same story with Astralis, you have to give a team at least a year to get to know each other and get along, everything else is a gamble.
