Two top-5 matchups in first round of IEM Rio Legends Stage

Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev and Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut will clash in the first Major match possible.

With the conclusion of the Challenger Stage, the 16 Legends Stage teams have been found at the IEM Rio Major, and the first eight games are now known.

The clash between s1mple's Natus Vincere and ZywOo's Vitality will headline the list of games that will be played on November 5, alongside FaZe - Cloud9 as the other matchup between two top-5 ranked teams.

The two phenoms will cross paths early on

The big-name teams will face each other as a result of Vitality's and Cloud9's struggles in the Challengers Stage, which gave them low seeds for Legends. Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov's men had to bounce back from a 0-2 start to stay alive, while Vitality edged out OG in the decider after losses to GamerLegion and Outsiders to reach the second stage.

In other matchups, two German orgs will face off in Sprout and BIG, an organizational rivalry similar to the one that will be on display in the last match of the day between Ninjas in Pyjamas and fnatic.

Liquid and Spirit will kick off their Major with games against MOUZ and Bad News Eagles, respectively, while HEROIC will have their Rio debut against Outsiders. Ultimately, the sole Brazilian team left in the competition, FURIA, will welcome ENCE to the Riocentro.
