Astralis turn to Buzz as Staehr, sjuush attempts fall through

Astralis landed on Christian "⁠Buzz⁠" Andersen after months of talks with several candidates and failed attempts at locking down bigger names.

Astralis are on the verge of signing 19-year-old MASONIC player Buzz, sources have revealed to HLTV.org. The new player is set to try out for the fifth position on the main team and take the place of Mikkel "⁠MistR⁠" Thomsen, who will return to the Astralis Talent lineup after filling in for the main team since October.

Astralis have had Buzz in their sights for some time, as according to a Dust2.dk report the two sides were in talks already in October. The dialogue was described as "close to dead" at the time, but it restarted while other options fell through for Astralis.

Buzz will try out for the fifth position on Astralis' main team

Victor "⁠Staehr⁠" Staehr had reportedly been among Astralis' biggest candidates to fill the final spot on the roster. Sources have told HLTV.org that the organization was unable to come to a deal with Sprout over the transfer of the 18-year-old.

Sprout comment on Staehr-Farlig trade possibility: "No thanks"

Multiple sources also said that Astralis pursued Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck in recent weeks. However, on Friday he signed a two-year extension with Heroic, with whom he had just reached the No. 1 rank following their first Big Event win at the BLAST Premier Fall Final and a runners-up finish at the IEM Rio Major. The 23-year-old was the last member to renew his contract with HEROIC after the rest of the core quartet extended their deals in October and November.

The report comes after Astralis have just failed to secure a high enough finish on the ESL World Ranking to receive an invite to IEM Katowice. The Danes barely missed out on a spot in the Play-in stage of the Polish staple event after finishing runners-up to Copenhagen Flames at the CCT Central Europe Series 4, the final event awarding points in the ranking before the invites to Katowice were determined.

Buzz should nonetheless not have to wait long for his official debut. The BLAST Premier Spring Groups, for which Astralis are automatically invited as one of the partners, are expected to take place in late January. Their first Big Event with the new roster will then be the ESL Pro League Season 17, kicking off on February 21.

Astralis declined to comment upon request.

I'm all for blaming Astralis for all the countless scummy things they've done but what konfig did forced them to kick him. Especially because he was unable to play or travel after getting rekt in a bar fight. I agree with you man. Astralis would dunk themselves a hot L for their PR if they resign konfig. Imagine if they did though. They'd kick him to save face (or whatever face there's left to save) and later get him back after the dust has settled. There were other possible approaches to that situation. They could've fined, suspended, or made/required him to go through therapy or even a combination of two or all of these. Instead of kicking out their employee, they could've have punished him and invested in his recovery

i actually think that astralis has been systematically (unintentionally) reducing their value as a team that players want to play in. there was bubzki, jugi, lucky, farlig, konfig and even a coach got benched. all of this in a relatively short amount of time. mistr is probably a standin, but i don't know? you could call this a very unforgiving environment. jugi, lucky and farlig, konfig, bubzki all thought they were there to stay. what happened tho? :D

If I was on their academy/talent team, I would be scratching my head... Buzz is 19 years old. His stats are not better than what they have on their talent roster. Management is basically saying to these guys... you are not talented enough, and we do not believe in you. Really poor management, but I guess that is why they are in such a poor state.

As expected, nobody wants to do the dirty work and play the role of sacrificial lamb for BennieF / dev0ce, and afterwards even get backstabbed like Asstralis did to k0nfig. => Smart decisions by Staehr and sjuush, i reckon. Sad to read theyre dumping MistR but again, its kind of expected. These youngsters getting dumped faster than what we've seen back in the day at North. Astralis management literally a mess after dupreeh, magisk and zonic left. noway k0nfig should be replaced even tho hes inconsistent AF. one map 35bomb, next one 5-20. close to the scene last 10y never heard of Buzz. Maybe astralis golden5 are just washedup or they have 0 motivation after the era and dominance they had last 5y. they are still playing for the big salaries. maybe retire and let young blood take over. i dont trust this astralis managenent and ill never will. they dont put the hours into the game as they should. device is playing good only when his girlfriend is loyal, such talented individuals but the mental is so low + lack of motivation after they won all the awards and tournies they could.
