Peter "⁠casle⁠" Ardenskjold is slated to remain behind Astralis going into 2023 after spending the last two months as the interim coach.

Astralis have announced that casle will remain the main team's head coach heading into the next year. The organization also revealed that Frederik "⁠LOMME⁠" Nielsen will leave the team following a year-long service as their analyst as Astralis look to create a "new organization around the team."

"There were several profiles in play for the role, but it is impossible to neglect Peter's qualities, so the choice was easy in the end," Astralis Director of Sports, Kasper Hvidt, said. "Peter has the values we always look for in Astralis, and we are delighted that he has accepted the challenge to be a vital part of what will be our new organization around the team."

"We have come a long way with the roles on the team, but we are by no means finished," casle said. "Neither with roles nor with the organization, and I am glad that I can now continue with the work we have started."

"I will be a permanent part of that work, and I am very much looking forward to 2023, where we have one single goal: To prove that we belong at the very top of Counter-Strike."

"I hope we can unveil more before the new year," the new head coach teased.

casle transitioned from the Astralis Talent academy roster to the main team in October after just two months with the organization. He became the interim coach in a series of moves the Danish team made in the aftermath of a failed bid to qualify for the IEM Rio Major, replacing Martin "⁠trace⁠" Heldt.

At the time, the Astralis management stated it was evaluating the current setup around the team and "looking at all current and potentially new roles and needed upgrades on and around the team."

Since then the organization formally announced the return of Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz, who replaced Asger "⁠Farlig⁠" Jensen on the roster, and now the permanent instatement of casle as the head coach. Astralis still have yet to reveal the replacement for Kristian "⁠k0nfig⁠" Wienecke two months after their star rifler departed the team.

Astralis turn to Buzz as Staehr, sjuush attempts fall through

HLTV.org reported on Monday that Christian "⁠Buzz⁠" Andersen is on the verge of signing with Astralis to fill the fifth position after Mikkel "⁠MistR⁠" Thomsen has stood in for the team since early October.

They are not broke they are incompetent. RLewis has said with torin that xyp is earning top tier star cs go salary, and while i dont fully agree with those clowns, they now much more insights like this. So they are broke yet they pay top salary. And they missed all the danish talent out there: roej, nicodooz, valde, jabby. They had a chance to steal even heroic players, years ago when eroic wasnt good like now and astralis just fell off from being the best. They fully deserve what they become right now, only the konfig affair was unlucky for them.

Most esports orgs "are broke". This is difficult area to gain many profits. Also I'm not into business that much, but being broke doesn't always mean that, maybe they put all their earnings into expanding the business or something, so it looks like they are broke but they are not theoretically. Twitter for example makes loss all the time and is still alive so yeah

They did it to themselves with tons of bad choices since 2020. Now they need to endure their dry spell and persevere, because in my opinion, their ''desert's crossing'' is almost done. They are only one good player away ( maybe buzz step's up to the task even if I doubt it ) from being back to a perennial top 3-5 team. And a few monthes away from being back to contention if they can hire HUNDEN and some top level rifle

I kinda disagree. I think they still need to replace 2 players and if they fail to get T side players I think we will see the same things happening. They were just up 13-7 against the flames on nuke and still lost (on t side). Do you really think 1 player can change a team from consistently losing T sides to consistently winning them?

If they're willing to hire HUNDEN, they should have been willing to keep k0nfig. Hiring HUNDEN would be a bigger reputational stain on the organization compared to what happened with k0nfig. So, I don't see that happening.

I think there are a lot of ignoramuses on HLTV who follow eSports and comment later, they better keep silent because Astralis is finally doing something good +Casle is good thing, bcs when he came, blameF played a lot more aggressively, xyp relaxed a lot more in his role and finally started to play well. It really looked amazing -LOMME is also a good thing, and most likely that's where HUDEEN will give way and he's not such a scumbag, he was a heroic coach and made them a tier 1 team. LOMME since he came Astralis has completely fallen off I wait for -gla1ve and Astralis will be great again

they don't have children, gla1ve has, also gla1ve is not active and hasn't worked out a new meta, he is still lagging behind the slow cs, while today when you look at faceit you can see that today cs is much faster. Also 0.99KD per faceit is embarrassing for him. He simply does not aim to be the best, washed both tactically and in the game. I think he can be very good individually the problem is he is known to tilt and lose motivation - it's happened numerous times in his career. when he does not have a top tier team to work with he kinda stops caring and becomes a shadow of himself. also he was never a guy who can make mediocre players overperform - he needs a very good team around him and getting device back is surely a move in right direction.

org just refuses to spend money to make the team whole. same shit in NIP where it took fucking ages to get in Brollan and by the time that happened device was out of the roster. now k0nfig gets booted, and they spend like a big buyout on device but act like thats enough to revive the team. Should have taken advantage of the CPHF firesale. They maybe dont get roeJ and nicoodoz, but like Zyphon, jabbi would have been great pickups. Even refrezh is better than those 2 random astralis talent guys. It might have meant that Xyp is gone, but at least the roster would be comeptitive and they can make it to Katowice.

at this point i dont think k0nfig gets a second chance. He was also quite inconsistent at times tho he is way better than the cheap options they have instead. Staehr seems to be like the best choice right now, but they refuse to cough up the cash really. tbf they are buying him when his stock is at its highest with sprout doing pretty well, but they got no choice if they want to build a decent squad.
