GuardiaN parts ways with Sampi

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács's tenure on a domestic lineup for the first time in ten years has come to an end.

GuardiaN has left Sampi following three months on the bench. The Slovakian AWPer joined the team in April but was taken off the active roster due to health issues in September. Sampi has stated that GuardiaN's health condition has improved but he will not be returning to the team.

GuardiaN has not yet announced what his future holds

The AWPer, who is well-known for his time on FaZe and Natus Vincere, had a 0.98 rating during his time on Sampi. Whilst a part of the team, he competed in both Czech and European events, including the Tipsport Cup and two IEM Road to Rio Open Qualifiers.

In the three months that GuardiaN was on the bench Lukáš "⁠Habyzz⁠" Doležal played with the team in his place. However, earlier this month the young Czech stood down from the team. In a Twitlonger, the 18-year-old explained that due to school he would not have the time to continue to pursue a professional CS:GO career.

Therefore Sampi is now down to four players and at this time it is uncertain who will become their fifth. The future is also uncertain for GuardiaN as he has made no public announcement about his next team.

Really sad to see him like this considering how good he was 2014-2018. It was always guardian > kennyS for me back in the day when they were dominating with big green. He is only one who didn’t get salvation from Boston Final Faze line-up, Olof already won 2 majors so not such a big deal for him, rain and karrigan did it this year and well niko still has time, but guardian…… He was one round away from getting major trophy, but I guess some things are not ment to be :(

He famously had motivation issues so an extreme drop off doesn't seem unreasonable especially since he's on the older side. Think about it, he was hard carry for years in Na'Vi. Gets to two major finals. Loses one to KennyS, the other great AWPer of the time. Loses the second because he's injured and has to play the final with 4x sensitivity. Makes a comeback with "superteam" FaZe. Gets to a third final, against an opponent they should beat. Ends up losing in overtime despite his best efforts as his leader and fellow stars disappear.

Its obvious that he neglected his health when he was in his prime. Dude probably grinded 10 hours /day since early teens. Combined with shitty food that will make you age at 2x speed. So sadly its RIP 4 GuardiaN as a pro CS player. Wish him best of luck and good health in years to come.
