Copenhagen Flames' Major hopes quashed as RMR qualifiers reach round 4
The Danes were one of four teams to get eliminated early from the European RMR qualifiers, along with IKLA, ECSTATIC, and HONORIS.
The second day of play in the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR closed qualifiers has concluded. After the first four teams ensured qualification for April's RMRs — G2, Apeks, GamerLegion, and 9INE — it was time for the elimination series.
Copenhagen Flames are the highest-ranked team to suffer an early elimination so far, falling in the 0-2 pool to PGE Turow after previously suffering losses to Eternal Fire and Mixfits. Ukrainian side IKLA were the other team to go 0-3 in the A group after losing the elimination series against local rivals B8.

At the beginning of the day, the final best-of-one matches of the qualifier were played in the 1-1 pool. Among the biggest success stories of the round in the A group were Astralis and the new 1win squad, who continued a good recovery from their losses in the opening round and are now one victory away from the RMR, along with SAW, Eternal Fire, Into the Breach, and Tricked.
The standings of the A group look as follows:
Over in the B group, HONORIS bowed out of the competition winless after a round three loss to Jesper "JW" Wecksell and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist's EYEBALLERS. ECSTATIC soon followed, falling at the hands of FORZE in a close series.
The Russian side around Andrey "Jerry" Mekhryakov will hope to continue their recovery moving forward after they got off to the closed qualifier on the wrong foot and also finished outside of the playoffs at the concurrently running CCT Central Europe Malta Finals.
OG as one of the favorites of the group, playing with Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen instead of Nemanja "nexa" Isaković, secured their second win in the Swiss format and require a series victory in one of the next two matches to qualify for the RMR. So do Falcons, who narrowly escaped Illuminar in the 1-1 pool, as well as Monte, Aurora, 500, and HEET
Below are the standings of the B group:
