00NATION, TeamOne complete Paris Major Americas RMR team list; EG miss out

The North American squad failed to be among the final six teams to advance to the Americas RMR.

The team list for the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR has been determined following the conclusion of the closed qualifiers in North America and South America.

Nouns, Fuscão 1500, TeamOne, and 00NATION booked the final spots at the 16-team LAN that will take place from April 3-9 in Monterrey, Mexico, with Evil Geniuses being the most notable name to miss out on qualifying as they fell to TeamOne in the seventh-place decider match.

Nouns and Fuscão 1500 secured their spots after winning their respective 2-2 matchups, automatically advancing to the Americas RMR thanks to their higher Bucholz score among the teams that finished with a 3-2 record.

With those two teams through, 00NATION were left to face 9z in the seventh-place decider match in South America, while Evil Geniuses went up against TeamOne in North America.

The former match was a tantalizing bout between Lucas "⁠nqz⁠" Soares and Santino "⁠try⁠" Rigal, who swapped teams at the start of the year. In the end, one of those players had to have their Major aspirations end in heartbreak, and it was try who proved unable to surpass his former teammates.

9z managed to be competitive on 00NATION's pick of Ancient, mustering 13 rounds before losing the map, but capitulated entirely on their own Mirage pick as Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David powered his side to a 16-0 drubbing to take the series.

TeamOne secured the final spot at the Americas RMR after prevailing over Evil Geniuses in a two-map series, bringing an end to a grueling day of matches.

Note: Evil Geniuses' head coach Daniel "⁠Vorborg⁠" Vorborg refuted the claim that BLAST asked EG about scheduling for the final match.

The Brazilian side struggled to close out their 11-4 lead on Anubis at the start of the series, a prodigious performance from Mario "⁠malbsMd⁠" Samayoa notwithstanding. Only at the eleventh hour did TeamOne manage to halt Evil Geniuses' comeback effort, converting a half-buy round before narrowly closing out the map, 16-14.

Overpass was equally as close as a 14-9 lead from TeamOne began to slip away as Evil Geniuses found their footing on the defense; however, an over-extension from them on round 28 resulted in TeamOne converting an eco round into a victory, and a subsequent round win sealed Evil Geniuses's fate in the series, 16-13.
