No NA teams make it to Washington, D.C. as Imperial eliminate EG Black from Showdown

An all-Brazilian affair in the grand final of the Americas Showdown means that there will be no home team at the Washington, D.C.-based event.

Imperial have sent EG Black packing from the BLAST Premier Spring Americas Showdown, defeating Colby "⁠Walco⁠" Walsh's side in a two-map series with wins on Vertigo (16-10) and Nuke (16-14). Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo powered the Brazilian team to victory on the former map, mustering a 28-11 K-D and 1.58 rating, while a similar star-level performance out of Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson on Nuke (30-15 K-D, 1.52 rating) ended up not being enough to help his team take the map over the line.

EG Black came into the tournament as a last-minute replacement for the organization's primary squad, and immediately impressed with an upset 2-1 victory over FURIA. junior was the star for his team again in that victory, averaging a 1.50 series rating and 0.90 KPR, but the team couldn't repeat that effort when matched up against Imperial for a spot in the grand final of the qualifier.

FalleN and chelo were at the forefront of Imperial's map wins

The Brazilian team have shown good form in the tournament thus far, defeating Complexity — who were forced to play with Håkon "⁠hallzerk⁠" Fjærli on high ping from Europe — in their opening series. FalleN's side continued their run with a strong showing on Vertigo against EG Black, led by their AWPing captain, while Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes stepped up to help take Nuke over the line and earn them a spot in the grand final.

An Academy team? Their youngest player is 19 ok so he belongs in an academy team Then 28 year old rush, 29 year old Stan and Junior who has multiple years of tier 1 experience, The average age difference is like 1.5-2 years man.

It's the same line-up as they have now + double partnered team The only difference was Junior and Hallzerk. They just used to be so shit cause junior is terrible so no one considered them tier 1.

Of course you play differently in a different team and sure you have a language barrier but so does many other players who succeed. Many teams deal with this issue i mean shoutout Smooya in BIG. Basically the same scenario and Smooya didn't drop a 0.84 rating. I get that it was dumb from Furia, it doesn't make sence but a 0.84 rating is unforgivable. VS top 50 btw HARDLY ANY TIER 1 EXPERIENCE. Complexity get free invites to every tier 1 event because they are double partnered and they went on to get the longest tier 1 loosing streak cause they sucked and btw it's the same line-up. They just swapped the problem (junior) with Hallzerk and now they have a perfectly fine team. 13 months bro.... AT MOST you would expect results after 6 months. That's generous considering just how bad he was. 13 months isn't enough to show talent? How long does he need then??? 2 years with a 0.95 rating before he becomes something? Compare this to any of the old CPH Flames players who couldn't play blast events at all (not partnered) and had to go through brutal online qualifiers to play ESL events. And this group of players who got scraps for payments qualified for the major play-offs.

The blast system is more "fair" in that every team qualified to it, however the teams that paid for spots in the qualifier (blast groups) get the best chance at it.

Europeans simply don’t understand. The ping differences to NA and europe aren’t close to being similar. NA is massive. Europe majority of the countries are close to each other to where everyone gets similar ping. Unless you’re living in Siberia or further out.

It definitely is closer I’m not denying that but there definitely is a middle ground server that people can play on where it’s decent. In NA, if you are west coast. No matter where you live you are getting 65-80 ping to Chicago and 60-75 to Dallas. Not to mention Faceit servers suck here in NA. I swear they give us bottom tier servers. Kazakhstan definitely gets the same treatment as west coasters in NA and Australia get. I’m not saying the ping is unplayable. But when you are used to playing a certain way and used to playing on LAN. And then all of the sudden you have to completely change the way you play because you have 75 ping and the way you play won’t work. It’s rough especially in pro matches. It’s one thing if you’re used to it. It’s another to adapt quickly.

NA players ALL need to work 5x HARDER to make the environment more hardcore/higher skill for the whole region to lift each other up, but the problem is there aren't enough hardcore players in NA compared to EU, all of them went to VaLULrant, so we can say VaLULrant killed an already weakened NA scene. The only hope for NA is when CS:2 releases and organizations pull out the big bucks to make some big signings and hopefully, some of the pros make a return to the region as well if they see more competition joining in. It's not looking good right now.

has NA CSGO ever been this bad? like there are no good NA teams rn its depressing. this is worse than the IBP/COL era. at least those two teams had the excuse of having no salaries and having to travel for not much pay and IBP won BO3s against top teams like titan and LDLC and COL were making playoffs of majors back in the day.
