FaZe collapse against Into the Breach; fall into 0-2 pool

The European squad drops into the elimination matches following an atrocious start to the Legends Stage.

Into the Breach did the unthinkable and defeated FaZe, one of the favorites to advance to the playoffs, on Inferno 16-12 thanks to a great CT side start. The British squad's victory sent Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen and company to the 0-2 pool, marking the second time in a row the European squad finds itself on the brink of elimination on the first day in the Legends Stage.

It has been a nightmare start for FaZe in the second Swiss group as they started their campaign with a CT side collapse against HEROIC before going into the 0-1 pool match against Into the Breach.

It was a chaotic match on Inferno between the two squads as Into the Breach took the early lead and began to show signs of confidence, with Joey "⁠CRUC1AL⁠" Steusel taking over the map with the AWP and in-game leader Thomas "⁠Thomas⁠" Utting buying auto-snipers. The British squad accumulated a 10-5 lead in the first half and seemed poised to take the map shortly after they claimed the second pistol round.

FaZe then continued the disorder by claiming a round with just a few Deagles to kickstart a brief resurgence for the European squad as they reduced the deficit to just 10-12. They however couldn't maintain the pace and Into the Breach's fast attacks quickly brought the game to a close.

FaZe will now fight for tournament survival on Sunday against 9INE as the Poles also moved through the first day of play in the Legends Stage without a win. This is the second time in a row karrigan and company start the second phase of a Major with a 0-2 record following their 0-3 disaster at IEM Rio last autumn.

Meanwhile. Into the Breach will have one more best-of-one match to play in the 1-1 pool against ENCE following the European team's defeat at the hands of Vitality earlier today.
