Heroic maul G2 to secure semi-final berth in Dallas

In one stroke HEROIC stopped G2's winning streak on Inferno and handed them their most lopsided loss in months.

HEROIC have earned a bye in the first round of the IEM Dallas playoffs and will start the bracket stage from the semi-finals following a 2-0 mauling of G2 in the Group A upper final. G2 will begin the playoffs from the quarter-finals, where they will face a tough matchup against Group B's third-placed team — the winner of the match between FaZe and Cloud9.

Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and company were in cruise control for all but the entirety of the series. They handed G2 their first Inferno loss since February and stopped their 10-map winning streak on the back of an excellent performance from cadiaN.

It was an easy day in the office for Heroic

The Danish captain topped the charts and provided his team with back-to-back 1v2 clutches at a crucial point in the second half, where G2 had a chance to come back into contention.

Things went from bad to worse for Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen's team after that as the series reached Ancient, a somewhat surprising pick from HEROIC, who have found success on the map lately but hadn't picked it in months.

The Danish squad steamrolled G2 on the Terrorist side, winning five more clutches in the first half alone to rub salt in the wound, including back-to-back 1v2s from Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck. They let go of only one round in the entire half and then went on to close out the map without much drama at 16-4.

"We won a lot of the clutches, but some of them were favorable, where we knew where they were or had the bomb planted," cadiaN said on the ESL broadcast after the match. "I think we played a super good game, but G2 seemed a little bit off. We played them in Katowice and that was a different beast. I think G2 didn't play up to what they're capable of."

Lmao karrigan would average what a support player like interz would average if there weren't 3 people baiting him all the time. He also wins clutches and carries faze sometimes when no one playing is good. People need to see karrigan eye test. He is very good.

Yeah but still it is not baiting tbh, karrigan often doesn't even go first on T side, it's rain or twistzz. Term baiting is not right here. Karrigan chooses to go aggro on CT sides (example inferno banana) and his team just plays around it. Zeus was for example being baited by s1mple, he was literally jumping around corners just for s1mple to get kill, hardly comparable to karrigan.

He did what was expected by him, he actually made synergy in a chaotic team, kinda like Karrigan does best. While i do agree that Hooxi is not a tier 1 player, he is a tier 1 IGL, G2 benefited a lot from him, but no longer, G2 should replace him before the team falls apart. Always saw Hooxi as a Zeus kinda IGL, really good at keeping the team together, not that great at the game. CadiaN really ain't that good of an IGL either, in terms of stratting, but he makes the whole team play better and actually manages to get a decent rating as AWP/IGL. Remember he pushed CPH F to a 2 times major

No, he's far from tier 1 igl. When you have 4 stars(4 really good mechanically players) in your team and you still can't perform that's totally your fault as igl, so obviously he's not tier 1 igl / player. Frag wise he's tier 3 igl, and strats wise max tier 2.

1 game and GigaChad is on the choppingtable again. Main reason G2 was shit was because of to much Ego in the team. Everyone can see that Hoocu taimed those Egos very Well. Unfortunately it comes at the cost of Hooxi not even given a chance to focus on his own game. So what is better in your opinion: Hooxi having control of team with low fragimpact giving others chance to shine or another IGL that cant control Egos in the team? Out of these 2 options I think Hooxi is pretty safe in the team. At this point we can all realize that G2 will never win shit if Nikos Ego gets room on the server. But Man what a showing from Heroic! G2 has always been a strong team, almost always going to playoffs. Their problem has always been consistency. They would assblast a team in groups, only to get beaten by them in playoffs. Neither Hooxi, nor Aleksib, nor Nexa have been able to fix this. How deep they go in a tournament still only depends on how good of a week NiKo and Hunter are having. "Every team plays bad from time to time". Yes, but G2 do it way too often with way too much money invested into the roster.
