Sonic to continue standing-in for Complexity at BLAST Spring Final
The South African was Complexity’s highest-rated player during their IEM Dallas campaign.
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek will continue to serve as a stand-in for Complexity at BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023, having already attended IEM Dallas with the squad due to Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli’s visa issues.
The information was initially revealed in a report by Dust2.us, and was confirmed by Sonic via his Twitter account.

Complexity initially called upon Sonic to serve as a stand-in at IEM Dallas after it became apparent hallzerk would not resolve his visa status in time for the event. The South African took up AWPing duties for the North American squad and thrived in the role, finishing as Complexity’s highest-rated player for the event having served up a couple of standout performances. The most notable was his 1.56-rated showing in an Ancient win over Cloud9.
Complexity could not capitalize on their stand-in’s solid showings, however, and exited IEM Dallas in 9-12th place after losses to Cloud9 and eventual champions ENCE.
Sonic is familiar with the Complexity core having played alongside them throughout 2020-2021 on Extra Salt. He took a step back from competition in October 2021 and then retired from competitive Counter-Strike in April 2022, although he briefly served as a stand-in for Nixuh towards the end of 2022.
Complexity will attend BLAST Premier Spring Finals with the following lineup:
Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek (stand-in)
Ricky "floppy" Kemery
Michael "Grim" Wince
Justin "FaNg" Coakley
Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (coach)
