ex-Copenhagen Flames disband

The Danish quintet are splitting up ahead of the player break and the release of Counter-Strike 2 later in the summer.

ex-Copenhagen Flames are going their separate ways and will be entertaining individual offers heading into the player break, it has been announced.

The decision to part ways marks the end of the lineup's 10 months since coming into existence in August 2022 when they signed with Copenhagen Flames. The Danes then even opted to stay together and search for a new home as a quintet when the Danish organization filed for bankruptcy back in May.

Regardless, the Danish outfit have now decided to pull the plug on the project after just six weeks without organizational backing. Their second-place finish in Elisa Invitational Spring, which acted as a ticket to Elisa Masters Espoo in November-December, marked their last outing together as they fell just short of qualification after falling to Apeks in the final.

ex-Copenhagen Flames enjoyed a fair amount of success during their time together, even becoming a key figure in the European tier-two scene after notably securing first-place finishes in three CCT competitions towards the tail end of 2022. These strong showings, combined with a number of other deep runs in online tournaments, culminated in the roster reaching a peak of No. 24 on the world ranking heading into the new year.

These strong performances in the server slowly waned as 2023 ticked over, however. The Thomas "⁠birdfromsky⁠" Due-Frederiksen-led troupe did qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and finished second in the Elisa Invitational Winter, losing to GamerLegion, but otherwise struggled to replicate their late 2022 form.

The Danes missed out on a spot at the BLAST.tv Paris Major RMRs after putting up an 0-3 record in the closed qualifier stage and their other online appearances became increasingly more short-lived, leading to the roster falling down to No. 47 on the world ranking at the time of their disbandment.

HLTV also understands that a number of the players have received individual offers going into the off-season, some of which could be near closing.
