PGL reveal CS2 Major Copenhagen RMR and Major stage dates

The three Regional Major Ranking tournaments will take place consecutively between mid February and early March.

The dates of the Regional Major Ranking qualifiers for the first CS2 Major have been announced by the tournament organizer, PGL. They will take place between February 14 and March 4.

The three RMRs, which will be the qualifying tournaments for the Major, will take place one after the other. The RMR events will kick off with the largest of the lot, the European region, on February 14-24. The second will be the Asia RMR on February 26-29 and finally the Americas RMR on March 1-4.

The Major proper will then kick off with a four day Challengers Stage on March 17-20, followed immediately by the Legends Stage on March 21-24. The Champions Stage, the playoffs, will then be played in front of a crowd at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, on March 28-31.

The RMR and Major dates are:

Tickets for the $1,250,000 event will go on sale soon according to PGL, the tournament organizer tasked by Valve with running the first Counter-Strike 2 Major.

thank god, they probably saw the shit show LoL's LCS has become due to franchising and don't want any part in that. we saw promising t2 teams (Apeks, GL) at the major that don't have a chance to attend that many tier1 events completely obliterate complacent partner teams because they actually had to come up with creative approaches to the game instead of recycling the same fucking defaults

God I hope Kato is either earlier or weeks after the Major, otherwise it makes absolutely no sense; like, Kato its one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year alongside with the Majors and Cologne, so will teams use Kato as a warmup for the Major or will they actually tryhard it the most they can and even sacrifice using their Major strats on it? (also remember it has 1mil prize pool); having 2 of the 4 most important tournaments of the year just days between them (we also have the Katowice Play-In) is... something else for sure

I wonder about that. Usually teams practice/bootcamp between RMR and Major and only play small online tournaments. Even if there is a Kato '24 (one of the biggest events) will teams really play it seriously and show their playbook?

Unlikely, the winter season might end earlier this year due to no Major, Blast will do their groups qualifier for the Spring Finals 2024 early in January then, ESL might have to bring Katowice forward by about a week, this year it ended on 12th Feb, they might have to wrap it up by 8th Feb next year so Pros can get some break before the RMR. I'm still confused though when they'll have the RMR qualifiers.

Although people have their critics about the Rio Major crowd, having crowd AT LEAST for the Legends Stage would be really cool since teams have already been filtered out and some of them (like BNE) barely, if not never, reach Playoffs on other t1 events so they would experience it for the first time while also having to deal with such pressure of said big event

Hopefully the Major can be like Dota TI's, and have the player base increase the prize pool with the purchases of Stickers and shit. It would be lit, and it would make the Majors much more special. Only downside would basically have a set time frame for the Major, no earlier month, no later month. Or just have them set to be 1 for 2 years. Another cool thing could be a team increase, from whatever it is now [24, I think] to maybe 32, that way the scene could expand more, and give more players the international lan experience.

Sticker revenue already goes to players and teams, and in the current system that money is distributed fairly equally to all participants which is healthy for the economy of the scene. Prize pools are very top heavy so at TI the bottom teams only get the scraps, and it diminishes other events which obviously have much smaller prize pools.

every event is going to have tech issues, but PGL's last major had major audio issues all the way into the quarter finals if not later. Of course PCs will crash and other tech related issues will delay streams, but the audio thing was truly ridiculous
