Astralis part ways with Kasper Hvidt, HUNDEN

The Danish organization has parted ways with its Director of Sports and Head Analyst.

Astralis have announced big changes to their management staff on Wednesday, cutting ties with Director of Sports Kasper Hvidt who has been a part of the organization since 2017, as well as terminating Nicolai "⁠HUNDEN⁠" Petersen's contract six months after he was unveiled as their Head Analyst.

"After a period of fluctuating results, which has not lived up to Astralis' always high level of ambition, it is time for a change," reads Astralis' announcement post. With CEO Anders Hørsholt adding that "players, fans, and partners must go into every tournament with the feeling that we can win, but this has not been the case for too long and today we take the consequence."

Kasper Hvidt, the former handball player who was a key part of Astralis' management during their most successful periods, winning four Majors in 2017-2019, as well as recent struggles, exits the team after two years of underwhelming results, where Astralis was not a title contender. "I am immensely proud of the more than 35 titles we have won across teams and the results we have achieved. If anything, I am sad that the initiatives and changes we've made over the recent period have not had the results we hoped for."

Richard Lewis reveals HUNDEN signed contract with Astralis while at Heroic

The organization was short on HUNDEN who they thanked for his time. "It was not as long as we had hoped, but in continuation of our work going forward, we need another profile to support the Head Coach."

Earlier this year, a report from Richard Lewis revealed that HUNDEN had signed a contract with Astralis while still being contracted with HEROIC in 2021, with the negotiation being done by Kasper Hvidt. Based on the documentation available, Richard Lewis stated that HUNDEN "firmly believed he was working for Astralis and undertook multiple tasks on behalf of the organisation despite still being a Heroic employee."
