Imperial add felps, HEN1; VINI takes up leadership duties

felps and HEN1 complete Imperial's roster

Imperial have confirmed the addition of João "⁠felps⁠" Vasconcellos and Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles, with the players arriving on transfer from Fluxo and MIBR, respectively.

The pair join the team as replacements for Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo and Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes, who departed for FURIA earlier in the week. The signing reunites felps and HEN1 with Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass and Rafael "⁠zakk⁠" Fernandes, with the quartet previously allying on Immortals in 2016.

It was unknown who would take up leadership duties on the roster in FalleN's absence, but head coach zakk has since revealed that Vinicius "⁠VINI⁠" Figueiredo will be the one taking the reins of the project as he tests out the role.

The new Imperial roster will debut in the IEM Cologne Play-In stage, which is set to take place from July 26-28. They also hold spots in ESL Pro League Season 18, scheduled to start at the end of August, and at FiReLEAGUE 2023 Global Finals, slated for the end of October.

Not really. People will only cheer keenly for furia because of fanbase and Fallen. But the other teams aren't that popular either, so i would guess the second one is Imperial, since they have the most likeable players after Furia. mibr has unknown players, in 00nation people tend to dislike coldzera. Pain and fluxo have only a strong org, but that's not like people are used to cheer for here.

This team looks interesting in paper, but the lack of an igl can be a struggle. Nonetheless, i look forward to see if there will be glue in this team and they will deliver something.

Honestly they have what they need to be a top 15 team. On paper, boltz (based on his last 6 months), felps, HEN1, JOTA are as good as any BR team you can make without KSCERATO or yuurih. VINI is solid, let’s see if he keeps the individual performance while calling. The Professor left all the structure behind, is on them to adapt the strats now.

Felps is a monster, he’s playing like shit (probably the worst phase of his career) due to off-game struggles. If he can his things straight and get motivated again, he’s the X factor they need. HEN1 was smurfing on NA scene this past year, I know he wasn’t good on LAN recently but this is something he’s able to fix because he used to be a LAN monster in the past.

the thing is, felps deal with problems that strongly affect his performance since SK era or prior. he is skilled, no doubt, but maybe psychologically weak... or he's just that unlucky for having so many problems to deal with it. anyway, good luck to him and imp from now on

This feels right for Imp. They kept that "last dance" vibe, but less SK and more Immortals. Felps will add much needed agression to this - at times - rather passive line. Hen1 was putting up numbers against the NA scene and will have a chance to come back to the spotlight here. With Chelo on the team, Jota became a underrated player. He's a really capable fragger. Boltz is a good water carrier and Vini is a good sup - even if he turned into a very risk averse player under Fallen's command. There's chemistry here and the pressure of having Fallen on the roster is gone. I think it's all upside now.
