The Danish organization turned to the 32-year-old veteran to lead their new project.

HUNDEN returns to coaching with Sashi

Sashi have announced Nicolai "⁠HUNDEN⁠" Petersen's arrival to fill the head coach position in their squad. The news comes less than a month after Astralis' decision to part ways with the 32-year-old, who spent the spring season as the organization's head analyst.

The skipper returns to coaching for the first time since HEROIC terminated his contract in July 2021 for allegedly sharing sensitive information with a competitor. HUNDEN will now lead Sashi's rebuild phase following their decision to bench four players during the summer tournament break.

Astralis part ways with Kasper Hvidt, HUNDEN

HUNDEN spent the majority of his coaching career with HEROIC between 2020-2021, when he helped the Danish squad climb up the rankings during the online era. Under his leadership, Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and company took first place at ESL One Cologne 2020 Europe and the No. 2 spot on the HLTV ladder.

His stint was then temporarily halted as he was suspended by HEROIC due to his involvement in the coaching bug scandal in September 2020, only returning to competition eight months later following the expiration of his ban. The organization terminated his contract after three months, alleging he had shared sensitive team information with a major competitor.

Astralis terminated HUNDEN's contract in June

"The restructuring of Sashi Esport continues, and as of today, Monday 17th of July 2023, Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen” steps in as the head coach of Sashi Esport," read the statement released by Sashi. "In addition to the previous experience from his earlier employment at top teams such as Heroic and Astralis, HUNDEN brings a lot of experience within talent development on the Danish scene."

"We are very pleased to be able to present HUNDEN to Sashi Esport," added Sashi sports director Allan "⁠Rejin⁠" Petersen. "Nicolai and I have known each other for many years and have previously worked together, so when the opportunity to get him to Sashi Esport presented itself, it was an obvious choice for us to reach out to him."

Afaik it's all pretty much all funded by D0KT0R3N's father/his company, JN Meat. Sashi is one of the company's brands. JN Meat has an annual revenue of 16m USD, but he owns a bunch of other corporations too including real estate.

Sashi is not rly a good team tho. They had a pretty decent run in powerligaen but that was mostly fuelled by MSL as he is too overqualified to play at that level. There are quite a bit of lower tier danish teams that are way better than Sashi so its no surprise that they were willing to sign Hunden considering how irrelevant they are (imo). It’s just more of a reflection of how many danish teams who refused to associate with him despite of needing a guy with his expertise. Sashi being the Best team he could land speaks volumes of his fall from grace within the scene.
