FURIA ease past Grayhound in EPL Group A lower bracket

The Australian side has one life left at the event in Malta after suffering 0-2 losses to GamerLegion and FURIA.

KSCERATO once again put on a show with a 1.58 rating in the 2-0 victory

FURIA will continue their lower bracket run after defeating Grayhound in the first round. The Brazilians find themselves in the LB gauntlet after they lost their opener against Movistar Riders, 0-2, despite an impressive performance by star player Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato.

The 23-year-old star was again his team’s top performer with a 1.58 rating against Grayhound. He and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes led the way in a 16-6 mauling of the Oceanian side on Ancient, whereas he was part of the fragging pack on Vertigo alongside Andrei "arT" Piovezan and Yuri "yuurih" Santos.

An early exchange on Ancient, when Grayhound won the second-round forcebuy as CTs, set up an exciting beginning to the series, but any notion of a tight map was quickly dispelled as FURIA went from tying it up 3-3 to winning the half 12-3.

Grayhound once again won a second-round forcebuy, this time after the switch, but their ensuing three-round streak was just cosmetic. The Brazilians put their foot down and closed it out 16-6 before heading to their own map pick.

FURIA didn’t let up on Vertigo and got off to a BRA7-1L start. From there on out the South Americans only had to keep Grayhound at bay and ride out their early lead.

The score was 10-5 at the half and a second-round pistol round win courtesy of an ace by yuurih gave Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira’s men plenty of security.

FURIA never let the economy get out of control in a tight 3-3 start on the defense, saving when necessary, and finally linked three in a row to close out the map, 16-8. They will now go on to face the loser of Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. Vitality in the second round of the lower bracket.

Grayhound are yet to win a map after two matches in this season of Pro League. Their first loss came in the opener against GamerLegion before falling to FURIA, but they still have one more chance on Saturday at 12:30 when they face the loser of Astralis vs. ORKS in the triple-elimination bracket.

Grayhound is literally a prime example of a wasted spot, they don't even try to bootcamp in EU which is essentially a necessity at the moment and are just farming qualifiers to get free fucking vacation trips around the world. Fucking please nuke Oceania or at least one of the qualifiers out cause they clearly aren't worth it and dont even deserve it.

but dont you think it would be bad for the community to not have an oceania qualifier with teams from that region? I think its fair to keep 1 or 2 qualifier spots from every region, no matter how bad they are in the big picture. if you just exclude certain regions, you will never have any players from that region making it internationally, they need to be able to show themselfes. also the whole aussie scene has to have some kind of performance benchmark, which level of cs needs to be played to be competitive internationally, this will not be available if they just keep playing against other oceania teams. they might have bombed out in this tournamend but i still think they deserved their spot as they are the best oceania team currently. also we need to have some unterdogs in tournaments, otherwise storylines like apeks, gamerlegion or itb would never occur.

No, I actually think it wouldn't. These guys clearly don't even try. Literally. Even fucking Asia deserves that spot more than Oceania. At least they actually try to win and try to get better unlike these disgraces. And if we want to have underdogs, at least have it be teams that actually have a chance and are actually trying to make a difference like M80, Lynn Vision, and 5yclone. Grayhounds are no underdogs, they're just disasters that are just stealing a spot that would've been far more deserved for another EU team like say Spirit and BetBoom or even another team from Asia. Hell, even fucking NA and SA would've been more deserving and our scenes are actual fucking disasters.

Well i certainly agree with you regarding the Grayhound situation (even though they´ve won the Asia RMR like 4 months ago with the same roster) but I would still not agree with cutting off the region completely. do you want to take away the chances for young, future players to somehow get to play internationally? without quali spots in the region this will not be possible anymore. i agree, there would have to be a new (or at least overhauled) lineup from oceania to be competitive again, but if that happens i see oceania as a contender again. they certainly were a few years ago with renegades and jks

Of course theres talents in Oceania, but raise a qualifier event, host space for it, it takes money, invest on a region that cant do shit its just dumb, if they want to play, they need space in EUR, if a AUS team manage to do a good campaign at like, a major, maybe the champ organizers choose to invest it AUS once again, thats how it worked before and after SK era for example.

it's important to give spots to all regions, otherwise they'll never have a chance to grow... even if they're way below level today, that's part of the process

m8, have you seen fucking Grayhound??? These guys are literally so fucking bad. In addition, they don't even try to get better. They're LITERALLY REFUSING to fucking bootcamp in Europe which is basically a necessity at the moment when they easily could do it for a few weeks since they have a shitton of money from sticker money. Why tf should Oceania get more than 1 spot or even ANY spots in general when the region's best team refuses to fucking improve??? if we don't want to redirect the spot to EU, Just fucking redirect that spot to Asia cause at least they're trying to win and trying to improve. Hell, even our scenes in NA and SA would've been more deserving and our scenes are fucking DISASTERS right now.

some regions don't have a strong team today, that's unquestionable... but if they don't have opportunities to play against the best, they'll never even have a chance to improve... so it's fair give them at least 1 spot you might think it's wrong, but I think it's the fairest thing to do

Mate, maybe the lads strategically avoided going to Europe earlier. Now they can chill as they can use jet lag as an excuse for whatever results they obtain. Pretty smart.

Sico needs to go He used to be a sick awper but as a rifler (who doesnt igl) he is clearly the weak link. Vexite was a great addition so im sure they can find a better 5th young rifler.

I can make a case for Alistair to stay ( a slim one but one) as a awp/igl is a very scarce/hard to replace. We could go with your scenario of 2 young riflers but i dont know who would IGL (INS i guess?) and who would awp (vexite 2nd awped but he was a fairly good rifler so kinda of a waste). My suggestion would differ a bit: -Sico +hazr/addict (depends on playstyle) Or -Sico -Alistair +TJP/hazr/addict/ + cheeleos (awp/igl)

Honestly at this point we should just go international, OCE is a dead region... and only once in a blue moon we get some decent players... just poach some Mongolians and Chinese players.
