blameF: "I’m very happy to continue my career in Astralis, I feel at home"

HLTV caught up briefly with Astralis' in-game leader after he signed a contract extension ahead of their ESL Pro League playoff campaign.

Despite taking up calling, blameF is still providing much of Astralis' firepower

Astralis have been resurgent in recent times, finding themselves back in the upper echelons of the world rankings and once again making deep runs in the biggest tournaments. At the heart of this revolution is Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, who has taken on the fresh responsibility of calling in-game and continued to find impact in the fragging department as Astralis' best-rated player.

"It’s harder to focus on your aim and stuff when you are IGLing," blameF said in an interview to HLTV ahead of the ESL Pro League Playoffs. "I’m not surprised that I haven’t taken a big hit, but I think I have taken a hit individually."

blameF may be feeling a slight drop off in his individual level, but that is not really manifesting on the server, as he currently sits as the second-highest rated player in the tournament heading into the playoffs. "We didn’t play the best opponents yet, so that’s why the stats are higher right now," is his modest response when asked about his performance thus far.

Regardless, the Danish powerhouse squad managed to make it to the playoffs, and they are feeling optimistic ahead of the commencement of their playoff journey in Malta, according to blameF. "I think we’re feeling pretty good, it’s been some good practice days so yeah, we’re ready."

blameF signs contract extension with Astralis through 2025

The dramatic upswing in Astralis’ form has resulted in blameF committing himself to the organization through to 2025, something he is certainly pleased about. "It feels good to be committed to Astralis, I like it here, I’m very happy about the new setup. I’m very happy to continue my career in Astralis, I feel at home here."

Astralis' new setup is allowing all players to have important roles, and Buzz seems to be benefitting from the structure

One of the revelations of the Astralis team since blameF took over leadership duties has been the immense peak performances of Christian "Buzz" Andersen. Previously the young Dane was struggling to find much impact on the server, but in recent games he has shown a new peak level previously thought beyond him, particularly in the matches against Natus Vincere and HEROIC in Cologne.

"We are trying to build a team where different people have different maps that they are having important roles on, so anyone on the team can win a map for us," blameF stated when discussing Buzz’s performances. "Of course it’s a little bit map dependent, depending on roles and stuff, but I think everyone can win maps for us."

Looking forward to their ESL Pro League playoff campaign, blameF was nonplussed about the prospect of facing Eternal Fire in the first round. "I don’t think we really care about who we play honestly, we just play what’s in front of us. I think they’re a good team, but it doesn’t matter for us." He was, however, reserved when discussing his team's goals for the tournament, despite their recent success and upturn in form. "I think we’ll just go match by match honestly, I don’t think we have a deep goal from the get-go."

1.25 rating for an IGL is superb. Also, so muscular, thick and strong. Love seeing this guy and how big he can get. Hopefully we get to see even more of him in the near future.

He is alright, but I still remember seeing him in a 3v3 retake on Ancient where he stayed on T spawn waiting if his teammates kill someone or not. He is only good when his team has advantage in disadvantage he is useless and just saves

That definitely sounds like the Baitf I know. But It's still hard to get even a semi-reliable IGL who can frag out in matches. If Astralis had an issue with his play style, they would've addressed it already.

I mean you can kinda understand his gameplay. He doesnt want to risk losing all weapons if the retake is not successful. But imo he has enough skill to turn the 2v3 around. If someone like interz or Sanji did this it would be more acceptable.

Just showing appreciation for a man willing to put in the effort, his blood, sweat and tears into pumping that iron. His diet and work ethic must be insane. Gets your blood pumping. You almost want to give him a little slap on the ass, just to let him know what a stallion he really is.

we all know device is by far the best player in astralis yet the IGL blameF has a higher rating. it's an anomaly that makes my blood boil. he does not care about actually winning, he's just setting himself up for success aka in his eyes a high rating. look at hooxi and karrigan, they're throwing themselves out there gathering info and blameF is saving in spawn half the time letting his teammates fight for their lives with one less player

Absolute clownfiestas Astralis... What is wrong with counterstrike? how can teams like NiP, fnatic and Astralis drop of so hard? Is it the players or is it the game? Xyp9x dupreeh Glave Magisk Device You should never need to change this roster.. so what's going wrong? why do so many teams have to make changes on this game? As a player you should be consistent.. so it has to be the game? Is Counterstrike really that hard to play that you can drop of at times?

nip should've kept their first roster with fifflaren as well and their dominance would've never ended, cos that's exactly how it works xd also, previous astralis 50iq management did everything they could to preserve that exact roster, refusing to integrate new players properly (es3tag, bubzkji) so that team collapsed by itself when dev1ce left it willingly and they had no plan whatsoever if a team isn't getting refreshed properly it falls apart, that's what happened to old guys like nip, vp, astralis who had no plan for the future. at the same time, look at a masterclass navi rebuild back in 2019-21

Very true great points you have mentioned thank you and let's not forget Counterstrike is probably 1 of the hardest FPS games out there to play so it will be very easy for players to drop off in form at times... They shouldn't but that game is very unique for sure....
