All CS:GO Major winners in photographs

With the launch of Counter-Strike 2, a 10-year chapter of CS:GO Majors closes. Can you remember all 19 of the game's Major winners?

Sweden Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg

Nearly a year and a half after CS:GO launched, the first Major in the game took place as part of DreamHack Winter in Jönköping, Sweden.

Ninjas in Pyjamas had been the dominant side and were heavy favorites to take the title after taking down their biggest rivals, VeryGames, in the semi-finals. fnatic denied the legendary roster the biggest piece of silverware, though, after an underdog run spearheaded by JW.

Poland Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas
Poland Filip "NEO" Kubski
Poland Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski
Poland Paweł "byali" Bieliński

Four months later, a core of the famed Golden Five from Counter-Strike 1.6 times embellished by the additions of fresh blood in Snax and byali took the first Major of 2014 by storm in front of their home crowd in Katowice, Poland.

ESL One Cologne 2014 - Ninjas in Pyjamas

Sweden Richard "Xizt" Landström
Sweden Adam "friberg" Friberg
Sweden Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson
Bosnia and Herzegovina Faruk "pita" Pita (coach)

After twice finishing runners-up, the third time was the charm for Ninjas in Pyjamas at the second Major of 2014 in Cologne, Germany. The Swedes, powered by an MVP-winning performance from friberg, wrestled through the playoff bracket winning three series that rested on a knife's edge against Cloud9, LDLC, and fnatic.

Fifflaren got to lift a Major trophy before he was removed from the legendary NIP roster and then retired later in the year

France Richard "shox" Papillon
Spain Emmanuel "MoMaN" Marquez (coach)

The Major returned to DreamHack Winter for the second consecutive year in 2014. The tournament will forever be marked by the olofboost incident and fnatic forfeiting their quarter-final bout against LDLC, but no one can take away the Major title from the French squad.

ESL One Katowice 2015 - fnatic

Sweden Jesper "JW" Wecksell
Sweden Robin "flusha" Rönnquist
Sweden Markus "pronax" Wallsten
Sweden Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson
Sweden Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer
Sweden Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg (coach)

fnatic forfeited their chance to win a second Major trophy at DreamHack Winter at the height of their era, but they only had to wait four months to convert their next opportunity. flusha and company clinched the Katowice trophy in March 2015, doing so at the expense of Ninjas in Pyjamas just like they had at the first-ever CS:GO Major.

Sweden Markus "pronax" Wallsten
Sweden Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson
Sweden Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer
Sweden Viktor "vuggo" Jendeby (coach)

A new challenger to fnatic's reign arrived halfway through 2015 with the rise of TSM, but the Swedes still reigned supreme when the second Major of the year came around to become the first back-to-back Major winners and the first team to take home three Major trophies.

France Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer
France Dan "apEX" Madesclaire
France Kenny "kennyS" Schrub

A French revolution that ended with AWPer kennyS and apEX joining Envy turned out to be the key to usurping fnatic's throne. The flashy AWPer spearheaded the French team's run to the title at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca just two months after the change took place.

MLG Columbus 2016 - Luminosity

Brazil Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
Brazil Fernando "fer" Alvarenga
Brazil Lincoln "fnx" Lau
Brazil Epitacio "TACO" de Melo
Brazil Marcelo "coldzera" David
Brazil Wilton "zews" Prado (coach)

Luminosity had yet to win an international tournament before MLG Columbus, having just missed out on titles at the two preceding events. In a hard-fought run through the playoff bracket, FalleN and company broke their title duck and forever inscribed Brazilian Counter-Strike in the Major history books.

ESL One Cologne 2016 - SK

Brazil Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
Brazil Fernando "fer" Alvarenga
Brazil Lincoln "fnx" Lau
Brazil Epitacio "TACO" de Melo
Brazil Marcelo "coldzera" David
Brazil Wilton "zews" Prado (coach)

After their switch from Luminosity to SK, the Brazilians became the second team to win back-to-back Majors at ESL One Cologne 2016. This was the first year in which only two Valve-sanctioned tournaments took place instead of three (not counting the solo Major in 2013).

coldzera became the first two-time Major HLTV MVP after receiving the award a few months earlier due to his performance in Luminosity's title run in Columbus.

ELEAGUE Major 2017 - Astralis

Denmark Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth
Denmark Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye
Denmark Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander
Denmark Danny "zonic" Sørensen (coach)

Denmark's best team became accustomed to winning top events, but the biggest title on the calendar eluded the core that formed Astralis in early 2016. It wasn't until gla1ve came to the team that they found the right mix and won the ELEAGUE Major.

The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, USA, witnessed one of the biggest Major comebacks to date when Astralis turned a 7-13 scoreline around on the Terrorist side of the deciding Train in the grand final against Virtus.pro.

Kazakhstan Abay "HObbit" Khassenov
Russia Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov
Ukraine Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko
Ukraine Mikhaylo "Kane" Blagin (coach)

In a Major full of surprises during one of the most competitive eras in the game's history, Gambit beat Immortals in an unlikely Major final, which took at the TAURON Arena in Krakow, Poland, in the summer of 2017.

Against all odds and at a time when the squad had already been in shambles and were about to lose Zeus, the legendary Ukrainian captain fulfilled his promise not to give up before he wins a motherfucking Major.

United States Tarik "tarik" Celik
United States Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham
United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta
United States Soham "valens" Chowdhury (coach)

North America's only Major victory came on home soil, at the ELEAGUE Major in 2018. With SK out of the way in the semi-finals, FaZe were heavy favorites to win the grand final against an unexpected opponent, Cloud9, but the American side pulled the rug from under Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and company in one of the most memorable comebacks in the game's history after trailling 11-15 on the title-deciding Inferno.

Denmark Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth
Denmark Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander
Denmark Emil "Magisk" Reif
Denmark Danny "zonic" Sørensen (coach)

Having established a new superpower following the arrival of Magisk early in the year, Astralis underlined a superb 2018 with the organization's second Major win in London, England. This was the Danes' fifth title of the year, and they went on to win five out of the next six tournaments before the end of the season.

Denmark Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth
Denmark Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander
Denmark Emil "Magisk" Reif

Astralis put themselves in the conversation among the all-time greatest teams by adding a second Major victory in a row and the third overall to their nine Big Event titles from the previous year.

Astralis set a new record for most Majors won by an organization as well as by one core of players to four with a win at the StarLadder Major. The Danes' victory at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany, came at a time when they hadn't won a tournament in over five months, and they did so taking down the new dominant force, Liquid, on the way.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 - Natus Vincere

Ukraine Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev
Russia Denis "electroNic" Sharipov
Russia Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy
Russia Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov
Ukraine Valeriy "b1t" Vakhovskiy
Ukraine Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy (coach)

After a two-year break from Majors caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Counter-Strike returned to the biggest stage in Stockholm, Sweden, in late 2021. Natus Vincere had dominated upon the return to LAN earlier in the year and continued to do so in the Swedish capital's Avicii Arena. NAVI, the only organization to field a roster at every single one of CS:GO's Majors, finally won the highest honor in their 16th attempt.

The team around s1mple also broke a record of their own by becoming the first team to win a Major without dropping a single map. They almost faltered in the final, but in the end denied G2 an opportunity to force a three-map title decider with a comeback from 10-15 on Nuke.

Latvia Helvijs "broky" Saukants
Canada Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken
Denmark Finn "karrigan" Andersen
Estonia Robin "ropz" Kool
United States Eddie "Eddie" Han (coach)

With one fell swoop FaZe became an instant contender after adding ropz to the lineup in early 2022. Over the first few months of the year, the international squad proved their strength with a trio of tournament wins that ended with a title run at PGL Major Antwerp.

Russia Evgenii "FL1T" Lebedev
Russia David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan
Russia Petr "fame" Bolyshev

A CS:GO Major was hosted in South America for the first time in late 2022, and it played host to the most surprising series of results of any Major in history. The Outsiders, living up to their temporary name, ruled in a wide-open tournament after taking down one of the favorites, HEROIC, in the grand final.

Worst trophy Now cant say it was a bad major as most of t1 teams struggled against t2-3 teams. Its just that t1 teams have more fans and they will judge that the tournament is shit if t1 teams are getting destroyed. Average csgo iq.

Idk how the rio one was? U had top teams make it like heroic, Navi, prime Furia, a fully loaded spirit, C9, Mouz and a decent Fnatic. Then you had the feel good story in the underdog Outsiders so idk how that was lackluster but the blast paris major was definitely disappointing especially with the final being so one sided

People who like good CS only feel good about Outsiders / VP when they bomb out of a tournament early. I'm impatiently waiting for the day when that sad sack of shit jame stops playing.

CS:GO 2013-2017 is something special. Since when (2017-18) online puggers from CS platforms infiltrated into proffesional/amateur scene & Valve made totally wrong updates ; CSGO from quality game became real garbage Only money & graphics kept this game alive last 4-5 years, nothing else.

From a viewer’s POV game and matches were really enjoyable and players really brought so many emotions and legendary plays. The meta was not so professional and detail-oriented so it was much more enjoyable for audience as we wtinessed really special events with a lot of stories involved.

Gambit, outsiders, cloud9(USA) all these teams that were able to lift a major trophy and Niko couldn’t do it. Damn that’s kinda sad for the guy. Cs2 is probably going to destroy his well crafted mechanics too lol

Having looked at those people we used to root for, those great winners, those we loved. I would like to say that those who played CS on the pro stage and won the major, they invested the foundation bricks that will be built in a new game for us. I want to go up to them to shake their hand or hug them and say. -You are the person I always wanted to root for, if you finish your career, I will remember you as the person who gave the meaning of life. The meaning of life is to cheer for your favorite team and to rise to a new level every year I want to say thank you to those teams that I supported in CS:GO But first, thank you Valve Virtus.pro Navi Astralis Gambit a.k.a Cloud9 Vitality Envy Fnatic FaZe SK and Luminosity And many others that I may not have remembered, thank you... Rest In Peace CS:GO 2012-2023 You will be remembered.

Scrolling this with a feeling that it was nearly half of my life, what a good freaking times those were and how many things changed with a time, how many players are already retired or really far from their past peak form. And how my life changed over the time too, how many years have passed. A bit more and I'll start crying

Those who won will forever be ingrained in CS:GO's legacy and have formed legacies as well. Now for new legacies to form in CS2. A new generation will form, people across the world will be vying for a legacy, and ghosts of a bygone era will fall and be no more.
