Complexity and Virtus.pro headline ESL Challenger Atlanta invites

Monte and GamerLegion are also heading to Georgia in December.

The No. 1 NA team will be in attendance

Complexity, Monte, GamerLegion, and Virtus.pro have accepted invites to ESL Challenger Atlanta 2023. The $100,000 LAN will be held in the Georgia World Congress Center and run on the same weekend as BLAST World Final from December 15-17.

The event is currently the only scheduled to be held in the States for the remainder of 2023, and Complexity, the best team from the region, will attend as the Local Hero. The other three sides earned their spots via the ESL World Ranking.

Open and closed qualifiers will run for the eight-team tournament in November, and ESL has handed out invites to four teams — Eternal Fire, BIG, Movistar Riders, and 1win — in Europe, and The MongolZ and TYLOO in Asia to the closed qualifiers.

Wildcard and Party Astronauts will start from the closed qualifier in North America, while BESTIA and Imperial will do the same in the South.

Look at their placings. I know it’s not the same major roster, but since the major they have not finished last in any of these S-tier and A-tier events. Just barley missing playoffs. Then you have teams like fnatic ans nip finishing last 😝

GL is #11 in the world ranking. the better ranked teams, except monte, must have declined

they have 2 of 5 players of their major roster, consistently getting bombed out in group stage, idk how they are that high in the rankings. Also eye test in betboom game told me they are nothing special

3/5 of their players from the major (Keoz, isak, aCor). They've gotten 8th in every tier 1 event they've played since the major.

Cool! Nice to see Complexity are very busy at the end of the year. That being said, if they do well at Blast Fall final and get the last world finals spot, pretty sure they'll have to pass on this tournament since world finals is around the same time

it makes a lot of sense: they're a good team, but have no partner spot in EPL or blast. better to grind those tournaments to keep a good ESL ranking and get the EPL invite (or even a direct spot)
