Media: Fluxo open talks for skullz

Reports indicate a $600,000 buyout for paiN's star rifler.

Fluxo are looking to add a third former paiN player

Felipe "skullz" Medeiros is the subject of negotiations between Fluxo and paiN, according to a report from Dust2.com.br. paiN are in a strong negotiation position thanks to an alleged $600,000 buyout, and Fluxo would have to come near that figure to secure the deal.

skullz has been paiN's best performer in 2023, both on LAN (1.15 rating) and overall (1.16), and has earned a reputation as one of Brazil's hottest talents.

He would replace Henrique "t9rnay" Menacho on Fluxo's starting lineup should the deal go through, and re-unite with Romeu "zevy" Rocco and Vinicios "PKL" Coelho to reform the paiN core that qualified for the BLAST.tv Paris Major.

The move would be a blow to paiN, who have dropped from No. 13 in the world in April to No. 82 since their triple roster move in August that left only skullz and Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt in the starting five.

The report also indicates that other teams are in the hunt for skullz, including some suitors from outside Brazil.

Fluxo would have:

Brazil Vinicios "PKL" Coelho
Brazil Vinicius "vsm" Moreira
Brazil Felipe "skullz" Medeiros
Brazil Lucas "Lucaozy" Neves
Brazil Romeu "zevy" Rocco

Brazil Henrique "t9rnay" Menacho (benched)
Brazil Allan "history" Lawrenz (benched)

Argentina Joaquin "lokomotioN" Abasolo (coach)

While paiN would be left with:

Brazil Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt
Brazil Lucas "lux" Meneghini
Brazil Kaue "kauez" Kaschuk
Brazil Cássio "cass1n" Santos

Brazil Henrique "rikz" Waku (coach)

Forgot he went for 700k right? God bless the Furia management they might not know how to run a cs team but at least they can make us laugh. If they ever need jobs, for say running their team into the grond, I know some fine folks who could use them youtu.be/NNv2RHR62Rs?si=5yOezaPHbY3FIvU4

FalleN is probably the most marketable player in the scene. He pays himself easily even without performing.

In my opinion maybe once but not anymore. While I agree that his appeal is quite wide for a CS player due to his recent lack of results he´s essentially been reduced to a local hero who once was a worldwide star but now is just a local (aka Brazilian) popular star that old players remember as good a while back but new worldwide fans kinda don´t care. As for the extra sales of shirts/extra sponsors that Fallen brings in yeah that´s cool for a while at least... However soon you realize that spending x amount of time in this lineup is a waste of the team's greatest assets: not Fallen but their talents in the prime of their careers: KSCERATO and Yuriih To summarize while extra/good revenue is SUPER important, Furia lacks the most important thing for a sporting organization: results. Fallen has not brought any, has increased its operational costs (huge transfer/salary), and is an increasingly older player who keeps saying he wants to retire. What a solid foundation for your captain/most popular player!

No, he is still that great in Brazil. He pays himself and is a great step into trying to be “the greatest Brazilian org”. Also, the whole community wanted FalleN + KSCERATO, so they’ve gotten even more fans off that. FalleN sold tens of thousands of jerseys for Imperial alone, imagine for FURIA. You may never say anything about FalleN ruining KSCERATO and Yuurih’s careers. They’ve chosen this path, they were the ones who really pushed the deal within the org. Never the org’s fault, they went after what the players wanted. I don’t support the FalleN move, but I do understand it. First, he pays himself. Second, both the community and the player’s dreams. Third, we lack even good AWPers and he is still a top 3 BR AWPer. I also think FURIA is headed the wrong way, but it’s not a complete lunatic move, it does make sense somehow. While this skullz move doesn’t make ANY.

I don´t disagree about his importance in Brazil. As a matter of fact, I agree with you. My point was that his place has gone from a worldwide star known to all to the old Brazilian legend (only Brazilians talk about him). I don´t blame players. I blame the org that lets the players be the key decision-makers in rooster picks because as history has proven it (just look at the Mibr Fallen era) players often make stupid calls when it comes to rooster moves. The coaching staff should have the power to do changes as needed and players need to suck it up. As for the change like you said it could have potential both result-wise and commercially even if short-term. HOWEVER this only works if you let Fallen work his system and pick players to help FURIA build around his style. So WHY did you keep Art, the former captain, an awper who can´t awp, and an aggressive player who has been figured out. Fluxo are clowns who are overpaying a LOT but they´re getting the best young future stars full of potential while FURIA is overpaying for old stars that are washed and all this while keeping their former captain around for insurance (co-leader which is total BS) in case the new one bails to retire.

While the value seems absurd, just remember that when it comes to FalleN is not everything about the game and results. The number of FURIA's t-shirts sold was immediatly up once FalleN joined. Him joining the team pretty much solves once and for all that old stupid MIBR x FURIA fight when MIBR still had fer, kNgV etc. which means pretty close to every brazilian CS fan now likes/loves FURIA. FURIA have players/teams for a lot of other games, they have lots of streamers and most important (imo), they do a lot of social work. FURIA's owners said that their mission (or one of their missions, don't remember) is making this gaming universe more accessible at the same time as making a positive impact in society in any possible way. FalleN is a gigantic personality, known by young and old brazilian CS fans with a massive fan base. So even if it was $1,000,000, it would still be worth for FURIA

What you are describing, with all due respect, is not an elite athlete but an influencer/spokesperson/ambassador. As a results-based organization, you don´t hire an athlete for his branding. You hire him for his performance and the branding is a really nice/important extra. The problem with Fallen and the Brazilian folk is that they put the branding and the idea of what Fallen represents ahead of what the player he is currently and what he can deliver now. Successful teams aren´t built on nostalgia.

I agree with almost everything you said, except for him not being a good enough player. I truly think he is. In my opinion, the problem is on their system/his in-game leading. Maybe even Guerri too. I would like them to revert IGLing back to arT and leave FalleN to AWP only, being at max a second IGL when necessary. I love arT and his crazy style, but if my idea proved to be shit, then go for someone else in his place or bench chelo and go for an IGL, taking that role away from arT.

You do realise pretty much every esport team or organisation isn't results based it's results driven. FURIA were going to make a change, they made one people 'wanted' which also provided a load of financial benefits and gains for the organisation. It made sense but perhaps, in hindsight, for the wrong reasons.

+1 it's not about winning, if it was, Furia would be bankrupt before FalleN even joined, they never won anything significant. FaZe won everything and the org was still doing horrible financially speaking. The org needs to do whatever they need to make them profitable, and getting FalleN was a good move, the team was horrible before he joined and they continued to be horrible after he joined, which is obviously not ideal, because winning is always good, but it was a good move overall for the org. There wasn't any move Furia could have made that would make them a top 5 team anyway, so going for a move that at least gives them something in return was the best they could do. Or do you think they should have brought skullz for roughly the same amount of money while not bringing in anything with him, no financial return, and no results either?

M0NESY was 600k. CPH Flames that got a Top 4 Major was around the same. EliGE, fluent in Portuguese, was sold at 100k for Col. Cloud9 bought Gambit’s full roster for 1Mil. Probably the most ROI player (not talking about performance), FalleN, was sold at 700k. skullz is a nobody who isn’t good enough to make a team improve a whole tier and hasn’t done anything. Honestly, I think kauez is doing better than him rn.

This is definitely the worst Skullz has been in a while, but ELIGE was doing terribly when he was sold, and Gambit had very little leverage in the sale to C9 bc they were essentially being banned as an org at the time.

Still, if they have 600k to gamble, why aren’t you gambling on a player with EliGE’s caliber? Fluxo, if they do spend 600k on skullz, will have spent around the same C9 did. That’s crazy. How does skullz cost more than half of dev1ce? How does skullz cost more to Fluxo than NiKo to FaZe? I can’t.

you really think EliGe would accept playing for any BR org apart from Furia? we're not talking about people trafficking here, the player needs to accept the offer too, and literally no NA/EU player will accept playing for a BR org that only plays in BR tournaments. Prices are what they are because BR teams can only buy players from other BR teams, and within that, skullz is one of the best available, if Fluxo wants to have one of the best, he's gotta pay, if the buyouts were low, teams would keep changing rosters all the time

that's a bold statement, pretty sure not everyone would want to move to EU, that's not for everyone, and even if they want to, they might get homesick, we've seen that happening before. besides, moving to EU would cost a lot more, and it's not only about being in Europe, it's about having guaranteed invites, coL is an ESL partner.

Fluxo seem to me like Faze in 2015/16. Both are/were ran by influencers that due their knowledge/fame in their scenes (Crossfire for Fluxo/COD for Faze) got some good success there and then decided to expand into games they kinda knew but had far less knowledge/fame. Here their lack of business skills/knowledge that was hidden by them knowing their scene is shown in full and as a result they run a mediocre team (who's salaries are astronomical) that overspends on transfers due to their lack of knowledge. Faze bought their original team (decent but not a top team) for an absurd 1M euros from G2. Fluxo is doing the same and Pain/Sharks are very much laughing all the way to the bank.

its unbelievable this org of all orgs somehow made it to the Paris Major. Now admittedly that's technically impressive as they've only entered the CS scene last year and attended their first major in one try. Even if they did get 0-3ed.

Every org making those nonsensical expensive moves (chelo, now skullz) should reflect on how much fucking Col spent on EliGE. EliGE made them a completely different team because he is THAT GOOD. Guy was 100k. EliGE speaks Portuguese fluently. EliGE asked FURIA about joining their team. Left on read and on wait. Brazilian management… At least MIBR and Imperial seem to have given up on spend shit ton of money when there is a bunch of talent that go for way less.

I learned that yesterday, he said on an interview that he wanted to join the team and messaged FURIA, but they were so focused in FalleN that they left him waiting and he wanted to have his future decided so secure a team, so he couldn’t wait like that. x.com/contrarioogsc/status/1714611501548..

that says that basically, FURIA is a marketing move as "BR super team" more than caring about the team success, with Elige and without FalleN prolly they will be in a much better place than today, I would always have Elige on my team no matter what

It would probably be EliGE instead of chelo, but they wanted to sign FalleN before the rest.

Furia signed fallen for merch money, not to win. Probably super profitable for them overall

Unfortunate that they value that over making the most of KSCERATO's peak years as a player

His choice. Contract expires soon so this can be a way to avoid him leaving
