dav1g will be back in Riders blue, this time as an IGL

David "⁠dav1g⁠" Granado Bermudo is set to return to Movistar Riders, the team with which he broke out of the local Spanish scene and into the international circuit with appearances at a Major, three Pro Leagues, and even an IEM Cologne semifinals.

The 22-year-old was benched from Riders in July 2023 to make way for new signings Adam "⁠adamS⁠" Marian and Tiago "⁠JUST⁠" Moura during an off-season roster revamp, but remained contractually bound to the organization.

This time around he will return as an in-game leader to take over the position left open by Alejandro "⁠alex⁠" Masanet, who is now in Stockholm, Sweden, ahead of his official announcement as a new Ninjas in Pyjamas player.

dav1g only played the CCT East Europe Series 4 Closed Qualifier with Project G, the mix-team he helped put together while on Riders' bench, but was crucial in the team qualifying for the main event, not only as the team's in-game leader but also by averaging a 1.21 rating across ten maps. He was bid farewell by the European mix on November 2.

The Spaniard is expected to make his first appearance for Movistar Riders in his new role as an in-game leader in the ESL Challenger Atlanta Closed Qualifier, starting on November 16.

In Spain and Portugal there is no one else, and another alternative would be max from 9z who is probably not leaving the team unless is a great opportunity, which Riders can not provide right now.

seems most likely that he didnt know at the time, probably only told about it after alex to nip rumors still must fucking suck for project g considering how short notice it is

He was still under Movistar Riders contract but they let him explore other options, I guess that project g was just a players org, so they were ok with it. Once Alex said he'd be gone and knowing there's no igl on the scene it was either him or deathzz who was igl back in the day on iberian family or get someone from South America/Portugal.

sadly I don't see much hope for this roster, sunpayus was the the one star of this team and since he left the team has suffered. They over perform once every few months and go back to losing to tier 3.
