ropz named CS Asia Championships 2023 MVP

The Estonian star picks up his second MVP award in the space of a week.

Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2023 edition of the CS Asia Championships by HLTV and 1xBET after playing a crucial role in FaZe’s title-winning campaign in Shanghai.

The Estonian player carried his impressive form from the Thunderpick World Championship as he powered FaZe to their third title in CS2 with a stunning 1.22 event rating and 1.19 grand final rating.

ropz was FaZe’s highest-rated player in three of their four matches in Shanghai, with the only exception being the BO1 game against Ninjas in Pyjamas. His best performance in the tournament came in the Group B upper bracket final, in which he led FaZe to a 2-1 win over MOUZ with a series-high 1.46 rating, in part because of a 1.86 rating on Overpass.

With his grand final display and FaZe’s victory, ropz finished ahead of Jimi "⁠Jimpphat⁠" Salo for the CAC’s top individual honor. The MOUZ star ended the tournament with a 1.25 rating, 0.84 kills per round and only 0.56 deaths per round.

Even ropz's own teammates seem to be in awe of him. "Ropz is the best CS2 player and it's not even close," Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken wrote on X/Twitter after the final.

This is the fifth MVP medal of ropz’s career and the second in Counter-Strike 2 after he won the award for the Thunderpick World Championship. In CS:GO, he was named the MVP of three ESL Pro League events (Season 10 Finals, Season 15, and Season 17).
