Thomas returns to Into the Breach

Thomas will begin his third stint in ITB's active lineup.

Into the Breach have announced the return of Thomas "⁠Thomas⁠" Utting to the team's active lineup, ending a six-month stint on the bench.

The British player will take the place of Tomasz "⁠tomiko⁠" Uroda on the active roster and will resume his duties as IGL.

Thomas stepped down from Into the Breach's active roster not long after their impressive run to the quarter-finals of the BLAST Paris Major, stating he would be "focusing on myself, and getting my individual performance back – alongside how I want to approach the game."

At the time the BLAST Paris Major roster had already been picked apart following their exploits in France, with Sebastian "⁠volt⁠" Maloș and Cai "⁠CYPHER⁠" Watson transferring to other teams, and had only just benched their coach Gustavo "⁠Juve⁠" Alexandre (who has since returned to the team) by mutual consent and terminated the contract of Adam "⁠NEOFRAG⁠" Zouhar.

Since Thomas' departure Into the Breach have struggled for tangible success outside of a CCT East Europe Series 4 victory, failing to go deep in many online tournaments or qualify for bigger events.

The British organization has also cycled through players and coaches, such as Martin "⁠trace⁠" Heldt and Aleksei "⁠Qikert⁠" Golubev, in their efforts to find a stable roster.

With Thomas returning to the team, Into the Breach retain the core of the team that attended the Paris Major and secure an invite to the Europe RMRs, scheduled for 14-24 in Bucharest.

That's what you lot said last time ;) (Granted, it's a weaker roster this time. If they managed to get bodyy then we'd really be in business, but Misutaa and Bymas have high ceilings so anything is possible)

Tbf it's gonna be straight chaos so why not. BO1s are just gonna rely on pistols so if you win those, anyone can qualify really

Its not about skill perspective more than a fact. Rallen been playing longer than anyone, with some pretty high skill teams, and doesnt have a single trophy. He is a meme at this point.

m8 you don't understand, volt and especially CYPHER were ITB's best players in the major and were the biggest standouts, ITB keeping either was impossible. Especially when they reached the top 8.

This is a really good play. With this move they retain the 3 man core of the ITB. Thomas can focus on his individual performance and run some good strats where his riflers will shine. I think this was a move that can only have a positive change, especially if Thomas can make some nice anti eco setups. Throw in a few good defaults that are solid, this team can make some deep runs and slip the radar. I'm a big misuta fan, and the young bymas. Thomas would definitely have a positive effect on their CT side rating with extra space he'd give to them, he is an underrated player, IGL. Tldr: BlueRanger says pick up of Thomas to ITB(again) is on a trajectory that can only show improvement. 9/10 big win for ITB keeping 3 man core.
