ESL adds conflict of interest clauses in rulebook update
The most notable updates were regarding the amount of changes ECL teams can make, regional designations, and conflicts of interest.

ESL has touched up its rulebook ahead of 2024, amending or adding several different guidelines ranging from conflict of interests to the number of players ECL teams can change.
The regions were also updated to more accurately reflect the way ESL runs qualifiers. They are:
1. North America
2. South America & Antarctica
3. Asia
4. Oceania
5. Europe & Africa
The regions can be further divided into subregions, as ESL sees fit.
Regarding ESL Challenger League teams, they can now make three changes up from two, although they will need to keep a majority of their starting lineup from the previous season until they have completed a majority of their matches during the first stage of the regular season.
There were also three bugs added to the allowed list:
- Covering the bomb with objects in the map or graffiti spray
- Using graffiti spray to track the bomb timer
- Silent drops
Two sections have also been added in regards to conflicts of interest, a much talked about topic recently as GameSquare, Complexity's parent company, is lining up an acquisition for FaZe.

The new paragraphs are:
2.12.1 Conflict of interest for participants
Players and coaches submitted as part of the team are not allowed to have any financial interest in the success of any other participant that is competing in the same competition. They are required to affirm that they have no conflict of interest (including any business entanglement such as shared management or ownership) with any other participant.
2.12.2 Conflict of interest for team staff
No person or entity that has direct or indirect influence or control over any organisation that has a team taking part in the competition is allowed to have direct or indirect influence nor to hold any shares/stocks or other financial stakes in another such organisation. An exception can be made if the involvement is extremely minimal or “unintentional”, e.g. if the amount is so low that any financial benefit of it could never match the direct benefit from the success of the actual organisation.
