HEROIC are through to the Round of 16 in the second EU RMR open qualifier after easing past GUN5 13-6 on Ancient.

Nico "⁠nicoodoz⁠" Tamjidi led the way on the map with a 21-10 K-D and 119.4 ADR, ensuring his team booked a spot through to the second day of the qualifier after they previously failed on their first attempt in the Round of 64.

The Danish-majority side won't know their opponent for sure until play comes to an end today, but currently have TSM and HAVU as the most likely candidates.

Another upset has come in just ahead of the first HLTV-covered round of matches.

Andrey "⁠Jerry⁠" Mekhryakov's PARIVISION have been sent packing by an almost completely unknown side, francesinha, falling 5-13 on Anubis.

ECSTATIC also suffered an upset loss to Prizyva, with the two unfamiliar teams now set to face off in the Ro32.

The first two teams to make the Round of 32 — where HLTV will begin match coverage from on the event page — have been determined, with Endpoint cruising through their Ro64 match with a 13-0 win over zveri666.

HEROIC struggled for the first time in the qualifier against JIEZ despite attaining match point early, and required all 24 rounds to take the win over the line.

The Round of 32 will be the final round played on Wednesday, with play resuming on Thursday at 14:00 .

The Akros anti-cheat was causing some issues in the first qualifier, and it's become a target of criticism again by Teodor "⁠SPELLAN⁠" Nikolov.

Gucci Academy eliminated 9INE from the second open qualifier in the Round of 128 after a quintuple-overtime affair on Anubis. TSM are also playing with fire in their match against heavy underdogs DMS.

Meanwhile, HEROIC and PARIVISION have strolled through the round with no issues and will soon start Round of 64.

Other than BLEED, most of the favorites in the bracket are faring well.

HEROIC, TSM, and PARIVISION are all through to the Round of 128 and beginning their next round of games, and OG look set to join them in short order.

Aleksandar "⁠kassad⁠" Trifunović's BLEED have gotten off to a rough start in the second open qualifier.

The European team were matched up against Space in the Ro512 for second first game of the qualifier, where they mustered a lead on Overpass and held a handful of match points.

The team around Hampus "⁠hampus⁠" Poser were unable to convert that edge into victory, however, and Space have managed to force overtime where they currently hold a slight lead (14-13).

An early meeting between HEROIC and EYEBALLERS in the Round of 512 spelled disaster for the Swedish team's RMR hopes, with Damjan "⁠kyxsan⁠" Stoilkovski's side cruising to a strong lead on Vertigo before eventually closing out the game, 13-7.

Jesper "⁠JW⁠" Wecksell's side will lament the loss after getting such a difficult draw early in the bracket. His team had made it to the Round of 64 in the first open qualifier before narrowly losing to fnatic, 11-13, and now have only two chances left to make it to the EU RMR closed qualifier.

Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub' mix won three games in the first open qualifier before falling to 9INE, but this time have been stopped before the first hurdle and are already out of the competition after failing to ready up in time for the qualifier.

The French sniper said he'll spend the remainder of the day broadcasting TSM's games.

HEROIC and PARIVISION were by far the most well-known names who did not receives byes through the opening round, and both have predictably crushed their opposition.

HEROIC will now have to face off against EYEBALLERS. Interesting seeding, to say the least, if these two squads can match up so early in the qualifier.

Teams like HAVU, EYEBALLERS, TSM, Sprout and GODSENT have all received first-round byes.

HEROIC and PARIVISION, meanwhile, will have to play their way through the first round of the qualifier.

Should HEROIC win their opening game, they will face off against EYEBALLERS in the second round.

Christopher "⁠GeT_RiGhT⁠" Alesund has announced via X/Twitter that boomer demons will return for the second open qualifier, sporting the same ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas quartet that participated in the first.

Simon "⁠simpan⁠" Skantz will be their fifth this time around.

Heroic are back for a second bite at the cherry

A raft of well-known names are set to battle their way through the gruelling open qualifier, with most returning for a second shot after failing to make it through the first qualifier.

KOI, fnatic, Entropiq and ex-ThunderFlash were the four squads to grab a Closed Qualifier berth after Open Qualifier #1.

HEROIC notably crashed out of the first qualifier at the round of 64 after being taken down by Nemiga, whilst BLEED fell in the qualifying round after an 0-2 defeat to Entropiq. Both are set to take another crack today.

The second chance at Major qualification begins today in Europe, with 1,046 teams currently registered for the EU Open Qualifier 2. There are still just under two hours left before the registration dealine.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming qualifier:

When does it start?

The qualifier will be held online from January 10-11. The first round of matches is scheduled to start at 16:00 .

The qualifier will be held on Challengermode.

What is at stake?

The top four teams will advance to the closed qualifiers for the European RMRs, scheduled for January 18-20.

What is the format?

The tournament will feature a single-elimination bracket, with the first seven rounds being played in a best-of-one format. Once the field has been whittled down to eight teams, it will switch to a best-of-three format for the quarter-finals.

The semi-finals and the grand final, which will be played for seeding purposes, will be best-of-one games.

How can I watch?

Community casters approved by PGL will be able to stream the qualifier on their channels. HLTV will provide a list of viewing options closer to the start of the tournament.
