Vitality were chosen as the best team of 2023

Vitality have been crowned as the Team of the Year for 2023, ahead of G2 and FaZe. Their trophy count during the year was simply unmatched, as the team won the BLAST.tv Paris Major, Gamers8, IEM Rio, BLAST Fall Final, and BLAST World Final.

They achieved this feat despite replacing two players, namely Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen and Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif, as well as coach Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen during the year. Vitality also topped the board in terms of their Round win percentage (56.3%), 4vs5 conversion (53.4%), CT-round wins (57%), and T-round wins (55.5%).

Vitality entered the season with steady form, placing 5-6th at IEM Katowice and 5-8th at ESL Pro League S17. Those events served as good preparation for the team that then went on to reach the final of all three events before the summer break. They won IEM Rio and the BLAST.tv Paris Major, and placed 2nd at BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023.

During the summer break, they added Shahar "⁠flameZ⁠" Shushan in favor of dupreeh and had another stable start to the season. A semi-final berth at IEM Cologne and a 5-8th place at ESL Pro League Season 18 on either side of their Gamers8 victory showed Vitality could still place among the best ahead of CS2's release.

Their debut in the new game didn't go to plan as they dropped out in last place at IEM Sydney, but the team bounced back with aplomb after signing William "⁠mezii⁠" Merriman and Rémy "⁠XTQZZZ⁠" Quoniam in place of Magisk and zonic.

They ended the year in dominant fashion with titles at BLAST Fall Final and BLAST World Final, achieving the latter without dropping a single map, to end the year at No.1 in the world rankings.

it's kinda true. G2 and vitality didn't play. Ence was a dying roster. Heroic and liquid were gone. Their only competetion was mouz, complexity and VP.

I dislike Faze as much as anyone else, but it's not their fault that teams didn't prepare for CS2 or failed to get a good roster together. You can't expect them to stop playing until teams decide to prepare or get a good roster. That's like criticizing Vitality for not waiting until every team has a player as skilled as Zywoo. Or NiP, Astralis and SK playing the game when no one else had an equally skilled roster back in their dominant days.

Of course not. Good on them for playing well and it still means something. I'm just saying the "3 trophies in a row" should be taken with a grain of salt because the scene was very weak with the other top teams not playing.

For sure. I actually think Faze will start the year stronger than Vitality and might win katowice. Vitality have such a target on their back now so they need to reinvent themselves a bit more which will take longer

I mean, they did win 2. The only thing that is questionable is thunderpick and asia cs xD EPL (That won them GSL) IEM Sydney I mean, i definitely would put G2 because of Kato + Cologne
