Vitality open 2024 by battering OG

apEX and company laid waste to OG with a 13-0 in their first map of the year.

Vitality have begun 2024 the way they ended 2023 by dismantling OG (Mirage 13-0, Inferno 13-7) in stellar fashion.

They have now won their last nine series and twelve maps after going unbeaten at BLAST Fall and World Final at the back end of last year, and 2023's Team of the Year has come into the new season with all the momentum they could ask for.

Mirage ended as soon as it began, with a CT-side shutout from Vitality taking them to a swift 12-0 lead. The first gun round was a prophecy of what was to come, as OG grouped up in Middle with all five players only to be eviscerated by Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut and Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire in 15 seconds.

The 13-0 seemed to be in jeopardy as Vitality entered a tricky 2vs2 on the A site in the second half pistol, but Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi stayed calm and clutched it out to complete the humiliation.

The battering continued on Inferno as Vitality raced to a 4-0 lead — making it 17 in a row — before OG finally clinched their first round of the series in a post-plant on B.

Only two more rounds followed on the CT side for Nils "⁠k1to⁠" Gruhne's youthful international squad as Vitality maintained their stranglehold on the series by closing the half out 9-3. Shahar "⁠flameZ⁠" Shushan was in especially frightening form entrying out of Boiler, ending the half on 16 frags for just 6 deaths.

Vitality's foot remained on the gas as the half swapped, with a flashy Spinx one-magazine 4K spray down the highlight as OG mounted a cosmetic comeback off the back of some nice Banana plays. Nonetheless, Vitality rallied to close Inferno out 13-7 and the series 2-0.
