Astralis end Vitality's nine-match win streak

The hype is steadily building around Astralis' Danish super team, and they now have two shots at Spring Finals qualification.

The entire Astralis squad had their moments against Vitality

They might have disappointed in their first LAN outing at Betboom Dacha last year, but Astralis have kicked 2024 off with a bang by defeating Vitality 2-1 at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups.

Astralis came into the match in solid form, having marched through the PGL Major Copenhagen closed qualifier and brushed aside Falcons in their first match in Spring Groups, but by defeating Vitality they have secured an emphatic statement win.

Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund is thriving in the new roles he has been tasked with on Astralis, particularly on Overpass, but the entire squad had their moments in high-pressure scenarios, with even Victor "⁠Staehr⁠" Staehr securing several important clutches over the series.

Vitality found their nine-match and 12-map win streaks ended, but what was surprising is how Astralis outplayed them overall, both as a team and as individuals. The boys in black and yellow did not perform poorly by any stretch, their Danish opponents were simply better.

Astralis will hope to continue their ascendancy in the group final, whilst Vitality have to fight to keep their Spring Final qualification hopes alive against the winner of OG vs. Falcons.

Initially it seemed this series would go as many expected, with Astralis starting a little disjointed on their T side as Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi dominated from catwalk. The Danes recovered magnificently on offense and their CT side was simply sublime, their timely rotations bolstered by several high-impact moments from stavn.

Vitality made short work of Vertigo but the score line flattered them, as they relied on multiple solo-carry rounds from Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut to win them unfavorable situations that might otherwise have turned the map.

Overpass was utter domination from Astralis, putting an emphatic exclamation mark next to an already impressive series victory.

BlameF storm means they have outplayed the "best team in the world" igl and won 13-4 in overpass. Not only has he used his brain but he has killed much more, basically twice as many as the other igl: BLAMEF: 42/37 APEX: 22/44 clear now? Did you see their match yesterday and his performance? He has the toilet roles and still tied for topfragger over two maps (topfragged on Ancient). So he bottomfragged today? So what? Others in more frag favourable roles stepped up. That’s the beauty of this Astralis. Everyone can step up and be the man on any given map. Staehr on lower ranked teams would have better roles and more opportunities. Kudos to him for being a team player on this Astralis lineup.

i definitely think a bit of both. Vitalitys mental began lacking towards the end, and i think that was as a result of them realizing that astralis werent going to be an easy opponent

Astralis was too good. Blast played some mic'd up clip from Vitality's comms when Astralis was up 7-1 on Overpass and Spinx was talking about the map being CT sided. The coach was hyping them up as well and talking about a comeback but ZywOo said they should put more effort on their T-side. ZywOo saw it coming

He has most of the "bad" positions and are not favored to get frags, unless things work out that way occasionally. He has overall great impact when needed. I think nothing needs to change in this rooster for at least a year, unless things totally tank, they have been building up to this final remake of the old Astralis rooster, it took them long enough. Can finally look forward to games again with greater pleasure :)

The key to the victory was cooling down flamez aggression. It all started on mirage when they managed to make the comeback. Vitality is the type of team that comes swinging from the start if you prove to them that you are not gonna be easy meat they start doubting.

You are probably right. But I don't think the new Astralis lineup has any problems with adapting their pace, tactical freezing and alike. They are composed as fuck, and if they truly get on the same page tactically....they will become a steady top 3 team, without a shred of a doubt. If they really bolster their tactical approach, I can't imagine them being anything but no. 1. They do have the best firepower of all teams. Every single of their players are known for fragging more than anything else, every single player has noticeable potential to clutch a 1vX. There are no freeriders on Astralis anymore. I suggest that people who dislike Astralis, sends their GF their way, trying to create some havoc and jealousy within their ranks. It's potentially Astralis 2.0. They have it all. The final, but relatively big test, is role tweakings / swaps. If they clear this obstacle without any issues, they will become bookmakers favorites at most tourneys. It's clearly a team put together because the marketing value of doing well on home ground at the major is very high, making unusually high expenditure acceptable. I doubt that the org would have bought these players if it was not for the major. Constructive criticism to my words is very welcome, ad hominem warriors will be ignored, as they biggest achievement online is wasting other peoples time.
