Imperial, Sharks qualify for ESL Pro League

The two teams topped their respective side of the South American open qualifier bracket.

HEN1 will hope his Imperial can do better than their 21st-28th finish in S18

Imperial and Sharks have punched their tickets to ESL Pro League Season 19 through the South American Open Qualifier, and will be in contention at the tournament running on the island nation of Malta from April 23-May 12.

The two Brazilian teams will be slotted into groups that have already been drawn. Still, there are two spots left to be filled, one from the Oceania open qualifier and the other from the European national championships qualifier.

ESL Pro League Season 19 groups announced

Imperial and Sharks are low on the pecking order at the stacked event as two of the three lowest-ranked teams to have qualified for EPL so far, but they took teams above them in the world ranking out on the way to qualification.

Sharks made their way to the final past the likes of Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David's Legacy and paiN, while Imperial beat two Spanish-speaking teams in the best-of-three rounds to secure their spot, BESTIA and 9z.

One of the main upsets came from adalYamigos, who knocked out the second-highest ranked team in Brazil, MIBR, in the Round of 16 best-of-one. The two qualified teams will join FURIA as the Brazilian contingent at Pro League.

So that's why nqz can't even win a 1v1 situation as T when there's 10 seconds left in the bomb, last CT is defusing, you have AWP, clear sight on the defuser and time to shoot twice with scope. There was a dozen situations like that. Even the Twitch chat was full of question mark spam. Weirdest Vertigo Ive ever seen.

I didn't watch the game nor the hightlights, but shit happens sometimes you know. At least Sharks will have an opportunity to play against way better teams, big step up for the youngsters experience wise. Hope they can show some good plays and entertain us, who knows upset a big org. Lets wait and see.

SA CS today is very balanced and there are a lot of qualifiers, one time or another Sharks would get a spot by inertia

that's what you get for having a qualify for one of the most importants events in the year with mostly bo1s, especially now with MR12, in a decent format, MIBR would most likely have taken that spot

It's a qualifier for the winners of several national leagues: liquipedia.net/counterstrike/ESL/Pro_Lea.. (The glaring exception being the Adriatic event, which is regional.)

They definitely aren't tier 4, but no matter what tier you consider them to be, the fact remains the EPL is a 32 team event and teams like 9z, that are ranked #30 in the world, "should" be capable of qualifying for the event.
