FURIA stumble in first round of BLAST Spring Showdown qualifier

The Brazilian side has had a disappointing start to the 2024 season.

Not long after their early exit in the Play-In stage of IEM Katowice, FURIA got back into action in the hopes of qualifying for RES Eastern European Masters: Spring 2024, one of three European qualifiers for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. Unfortunately for the Brazilian side, the team could not secure even a single win in the bracket, falling to Czech side Phantom troupe in the Round of 64.

FURIA's appearance in the open qualifier was not publicized by the organization until their early exit. On X/Twitter, FURIA clarified that the team opted to participate in the qualifier at the last minute following their Katowice exit and that the players took the opportunity to get some practice and try to secure a spot in the closed qualifier.

FURIA's form in 2024 has been a far cry from where it was towards the end of 2023, with the Brazilians lifting the trophy at Elisa Masters Espoo in their penultimate event of last year's season. The Brazilians crashed out of the IEM Katowice Play-Ins in 13th-16th place following close losses to The MongolZ and Apeks.

FURIA will have two upcoming opportunities to redeem themselves after their subpar start to the year. The Brazilians are slated to return home for the South American qualifiers for IEM Dallas, which will take place between February 14-23.

The next chance for FURIA to turn their fortunes around will be at the all-important Americas RMR, which will take place in Monterrey, Mexico, in early March. With Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo's men finding themselves as the second-highest-ranked squad at the event, it would be a massive blow if they failed to claim one of the five available spots at PGL Major Copenhagen.

That's my thought as well, keep yuurih and KSCERATO, transition FalleN to coach and go international with two EU players plus an NA/SA player to keep the Americas spot or scout SA to find young talent and bring them on board

I remember some guy arguing with me on the forum that Furia is T1 team despite me pointing out they did not qualify to a single T1 playoff in 2023. His main argument was that they've won Elisa as if that was T1 event. They would not even be in TOP20 if not for partner slots.

unfortunately, I think Furia has a serious chance of not qualifying for the Major... I wouldn't be surprised

at this point I think they have better chances to not quality than to qualify
