PGL CS2 Europe RMR A opening round schedule revealed

The clashes in the first round of best-of-ones at the RMR have been made public.

PGL has revealed the first match-ups of its Europe RMR A, the final hurdle for teams still in the fight to make it to the PGL Major in Copenhagen. The qualifying tournament is slated to take place on February 14-17 in Bucharest, Romania.

The Swiss system will once again be in place, as is traditional. Best-of-ones will open and follow in the 1-0 and 1-1 pools before best-of-threes take over in all progression and elimination matches.

The top 8 teams will go straight to the Major, while the teams finishing in 9-11th place will have a lost shot in the Last Chance Qualifier, where three teams from Europe RMR A and three from Europe RMR B will fight for one last spot in Copenhagen.

Two sets of matches will start at the same time in the opening round, at 12:00 , after which the following three sets will follow. FaZe and Virtus.pro will both be in the first set, facing off against 9 Pandas and SAW, respectively. Natus Vincere will then face KOI and G2 will go up against Into the Breach.

Eternal Fire vs. Ninjas in Pyjamas will follow alongside AMKAL vs. Enterprise, while BetBoom vs. fnatic and 3DMAX vs. Falcons will close out the first round of matches.

Feel bad for Australia? Try New Zealand. We are 3-5 hours ahead of Australia. For context, IEM Katowice finals are at 5:00 AM

I don't get why 1 play vs 9 instead of 16. Anyway, it should be Faze VP (Saw will keep it close) Navi G2 EF Amkak Betboom - Fnatic and 3D - Falcons more of a toss up

These are the major qualifications, why would teams need protecting here?

having #1 vs #16 is also giving protection to the #1 by giving them an easier matchup its not about protection, its to give everyone more of a fair chance for the older majors making it to playoffs automatically qualified you to the legends stage of the next major and this gave a huge advantage to teams that ranked high in the previous major regardless of whether they were deserving of it and this was abolished for a reason

"Don't give advantage to the #1 seed because it's more fair this way" is all I read. This way you just force matchups that disregard recent form altogether.

It's to prevent strange Buchholz seeding in the later rounds, otherwise low ranked teams would get seeding boosts by being destroyed by teams likely to go 3-0. It's better for #9 to lose against #1 than lose against #8

NaVi vs KOI as the opening sets up a real possibility of 0-3 for NaVi

Will there be Fantasy game? I guess not as the breaks between matches are too short?

There was fantasy for both EU's and Americas last season. The short breaks are only on day 1 as they are all bo1. From round 3 on is only 1 match per day for each team.
