ELEVATE sign timbermen ahead of Americas RMR

The players have found an organization to call home ahead of their trip to Monterrey.

snav and his team will represent ELEVATE at the Americas RMR and BLAST Spring Showdown

Elevate has announced the signing of timbermen just two weeks ahead of the Americas RMR in Monterrey, Mexico, where the team will compete against the likes of Liquid, Complexity, and FURIA for five spots at PGL Major Copenhagen.

The team around Wyatt "⁠snav⁠" Phillippi has had a successful run of results in the past few months, winning Fragicago in December and more recently, qualifying for the Americas RMR and BLAST Spring Showdown.

The addition of FLUFFY AIMERS duo Jaxon "⁠Peeping⁠" Cornwell and Deni "⁠dea⁠" Ediev were crucial in the latter two results in particular, with the Russian AWPer making a name for himself with his performance in the RMR closed qualifier (1.40 rating over 8 maps) and getting the nod from Wilton "⁠zews⁠" Prado as a talent to keep an eye on.

Thus, it comes as a huge blow to Elevate's prospects that dea will be absent for the team's Americas RMR and BLAST Showdown appearances due to the recent theft of his passport, as reported by Dust2.us. The team will instead field their registered substitute, Adam "⁠nbgee12⁠" Zanzoul, for the RMR and likely the Showdown, although they are reportedly still exploring their options for the latter event.

The move marks Elevate's return to Counter-Strike after two years away, with the organization last housing two different Brazilian lineups in 2021 and 2022. Elevate as a name in Counter-Strike dates back to 2012, with several notable players cycling through the organization over the years that followed including Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski, Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic, William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba, and Matt "⁠Warden⁠" Dickens.

It can be kind of a weird concept to non-NA since idk how many cultures have words like that, but basically the connotations and historical context of it are so bad that it's widely accepted that using it when you're white, especially as an insult, communicates that you are racist. Even if the person you're saying it to is white. It's also not socially acceptable to use the full word even when not using it as an insult, just referring to the word itself. Many people will still consider you racist for doing so.

i don't understand the logic behind that but i guess that's just how it is. i feel so sad that the stream chats was just full of hateful people trashing on the team constantly whenever i watch them. i understand that some people don't like them, but i find it unfortunate that it's constant and unrelenting. streamers like fl0m don't try to put a lid on the abuse, perhaps it's because they don't want to be called racist themselves. streamers tell their chat not to be toxic towards any teams, but when it's elevate/timbermen it's always acceptable because they are "racist". i doubt most people hating them even read the actual content of their crimes. idk.. i think NA culture has failed in this regard, its only a culture of outrage. go to a mirror and say the n word to urself, and you should be burned at the stake if anyone catches you..

I think it's more than just the use of the n word in their case though. They have a long history of just being toxic in general and it's going to take a lot of time and effort for them not to be seen that way. From personal experience every time I've played with snav he's been shit talking someone or complaining, even when we're winning
