juanflatroo: "We're probably at 30% of what we can do"
juanflatroo believes there is more to come from Guild Eagles as they continue their Europe RMR campaign.
Guild Eagles made waves playing as Bad News Eagles over the past couple of years, qualifying for three Majors in a row despite lacking organizational support whilst playing a no-holds-barred brand of Counter-Strike. The fact they wore their hearts on their sleeves only endeared them to many in the community.
Their first stab at Major qualification under the Guild Eagles banner began disastrously as back-to-back losses left them staring in the face of elimination, but a victory over Nexus has kept them alive in Bucharest.
Flatron "juanflatroo" Halimi gave an interview to HLTV after taking down Nexus to discuss his team's fortunes in Romania thus far, and to compare their journey to their previous RMR campaigns.

What are your thoughts on that series?
It went a lot harder than we thought actually, but at the end a win is what really matters for us at this point since it was much needed for our confidence.
Why do you think it was harder this series than you were expecting? Did they surprise you? What was it about them?
I mean they played good, props to them, but in general we're really not at our best right now. We're probably at 30% of what we can actually do, and so it was a much-needed win to gain that confidence back because we've had a rough past few weeks, but we're slowly building up that that momentum. You could tell inside the game that the energy was not on the level that we usually are used to because of all of the things that happened in the background, but I believe we will slowly come back and find that level that we were expecting to find.
Is that the downside to being such an emotional team? You guys wear your hearts on your sleeves so when it's going well there's a lot of energy, but maybe when it's not going so well it's a bit rough?
it is, it is, and it's one of the things that we've been trying to work on so hard for so long. I think it's going pretty good at the moment, we're really trying to find that balance, that much-needed balance actually, and I think with time things will only get better from here.
Like you say, you started 0-2 in the competition. What do you think was going wrong for you in those best of ones?
I think the MOUZ game kind of sent us downhill, and then second game we were just too tired. I guess we lacked a lot of energy there, the communication was so slow, everything was really, really slow for us. We knew it and we knew we had to bounce back on the communication and everything else, but yeah, things will just get better from here I believe.
Is that maybe a result of not being able to attend so many LANs? Do you think that maybe has an impact when you do get here? It's a different experience for you guys.
A hundred percent. We really enjoy playing LAN games and it's it's one of the goals we have right now, to qualify for as many of them as we can and attend as many of them as we can, because we are just much better than in in online games. That's where we feel the most comfortable actually.
Obviously Guild Eagles had a bit of a rough journey with the qualification run for Pro League, how important is qualifying for the Major for you?
It's definitely the most important thing for us right now because it's the only thing we have left at the moment, so we'll make sure we'll give every atom that we have in our body at this point.
Does it feel different at this RMR? Because obviously you've had previous RMR qualification runs be very successful, does it feel different being at one now with an organization behind you?
The org is really like one of the best that they really support us in every way possible and there's absolutely no pressure from them, which is a big positive for us knowing that we're kind of emotional guys. They've been really really nice to us and we feel pretty confident to be honest.
