ALTERNATE aTTaX secure BIG Academy duo on loan

The German squad has opted for changes after a slow start to the year.

ALTERNATE aTTaX have announced the signings of BIG Academy players Marcel "⁠hyped⁠" Köhn and Tom "⁠skyye⁠" Hagedorn on loan until the end of the year. The two new players will be taking the places of Paul "⁠PerX⁠" von Erdmannsdorff and Max "⁠PANIX⁠" Hangebruch, who have been moved to the squad's bench.

The double signing comes after a series of mixed results by ALTERNATE aTTaX to start their 2024 season. Although the team qualified for Copenhagen Gaming Week 2024 in January, the squad bowed out of the Danish event in last place after losses to Astralis and Lilmix. A semi-final finish in the ESL Pro League Season 19 NC Europe Qualifier looked promising for the squad, but up-and-down showings in other online tournaments paved the way for changes in the team.

The arrivals of hyped and skyye add to the slew of changes that ALTERNATE aTTaX has opted to make over the course of the past few months. The first set of moves to the German side's active lineup came towards the tail-end of 2023, with AWPer Fritz "⁠slaxz-⁠" Dietrich departing for North American organization M80 in November and Timo "⁠Spiidi⁠" Richter subsequently announcing his retirement in late December.

To fill these gaps, ALTERNATE aTTaX brought on PANIX and Simon "⁠Goody⁠" Chayka, with the latter player ultimately being moved to the bench after just a month of active play to make room for BIG Academy rifler Luc "⁠ArroW⁠" Oehmke.

With skyye, hyped and ArroW on the roster, ALTERNATE aTTaX will get to play in ESL Challenger League Season 47 as the trio had previously secured a spot in the online league under the BIG Academy banner by winning ESEA Advanced Season 47. ALTERNATE aTTaX are currently participating in several other online events, with this new-look lineup set to debut against Alliance in A1 Gaming League Season 8 on February 25.

Clearly they are trying to reach new heights... top60 isn´t it... they have some good wins , but then lose to some teams that shouldn´t aswell.. its all about building a team that clicks from the get go... not always about ratings .. and if the "team awper is already killing why change" blah blah blah

I don't think panix was holding them back this is why I think it's a bit unfair he was cut If it means they will reach new heights and maybe even reach some tier1 events I'm all for it But looking at their time with slaxz farming they didn't reach very high (peaking at top 40). So I think the awpers aren't the problem in this team in my opinion
