PGL Asia RMR opening round schedule revealed

Eight teams from Asia and Oceania will vie for two spots in Copenhagen.

TheMongolz will face MAG in the first round

PGL has released the schedule for the first round of the Asia RMR. The qualifying tournament will take place in Shanghai between February 26-28 and offer two spots at PGL Major Copenhagen.

Unlike its European counterpart, the Asia RMR will feature a straightforward double-elimination bracket, with only the first two rounds of the upper bracket being played in a best-of-one format. The upper bracket final and the entire lower bracket will feature best-of-three series.

The MongolZ, the highest-ranked team in attendance, will take on MAG, one of the two last-minute replacements in the tournament. Grayhound will go up against ATOX in what will be Christopher "⁠dexter⁠" Nong's first international LAN appearance since returning to the team.

Twisted Minds replace 15 Average in Asia RMR

But the most interesting match-up of the first round will be the one pitting TYLOO against JiJieHao. The latter includes three players with several years of experience in European Counter-Strike, with Issa "⁠ISSAA⁠" Murad and Aleksei "⁠El1an⁠" Gusev looking in good form in the Middle East closed qualifier.

Why is Twisted Minds allowed to play in the Asia RMR? They have 3/5 europeans in the team (1x Poland, 1x Netherlands, 1x France)

rules are so badly written idek bro it makes no sense Asia NOTE: Every team (team is understood to mean the 5 players in the roster that has played at least one game in an open qualifier) from Asia will be able to register in any Asian qualifier (Oceania, Middle East, Rest of Asia and China), the location being a priority. A team will not be able to change its initial choice. Thus, if you lose in the region you have chosen, you will not be able to register for another region. E.g. you chose to play in the Middle East qualifier, if you lose it you cannot register for the remaining qualifications: Oceania, Rest of Asia or China. Middle East Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan ,Israel ,Iran. pakistan is not listed under middle east, it's listed under "rest of asia" i did not know that if you're from anywhere in asia you can choose to play in any asian qualifier. that makes 0 sense. whats the point of having regions then lol read #57 lil bro

it's the same rule that allows BR teams to play NA qualifiers - basically since they all end in the same RMR region, Valve doesn't care from which place you try to qualify. the point of regions is more about ping, as each one play in specific servers IIRC. but if teams are willing to travel or play with high ping, that's on them.

Pakistan only gets good ping in ME Servers thats why it is allowed, not the first time it has happened, also DoCC has pakistani nationality as well. This is allowed in valve rules as if you 2 players from same region (ME) and there is another player which belongs to same continent (ASIA), you can play those qualifiers. Same is the case with Team Liquid as well they have only 2 NA players but Skullz is from same continent so they are playing the NA qualifiers, for twisted minds, its the same.

I dont think it matters interanally whether you play in Middle Eastern or Rest of Asia qualifier. Also if D0cc would be considered Pakistani that would still make them have 2 middle eastern and 2 european. LOS played in NA qualifier even though they are fully Brazilian. Liquid played in NA quald with 2 North Americans and 2 Europeans.

Yeah it doesn't matter what quali the team plays as long as they are in correct main region. Any team with atleast 3 Asia players can play in any qual for Asia RMR. Any team with atleast 3 American players can play both NA and SA qual, no matter if players are NA or SA. If a team have for example 2 EU players, 2 NA players and 1 SA player, they have to play American RMR. But if a team have 2 NA players, 2 Asian players and 1 EU player, they can choose if they want to play American RMR or Asian RMR, and can play in any of the 8 or so qualifiers.

Mongolz and Grayhound will make it unfortunately. Not that I dont like the teams but I think Tyloo and LV deserves a chance in a major. However Mongolz or Grayhound are probably most likely to advance to Legends stage, so we can see 3 Asian teams next major.
