Jumpy named new Sangal coach

The former fnatic coach returns to men’s CS after a stint in charge of G2 Oya.

Jumpy is Sangal's new CS coach

Sangal have announced that Jimmy "⁠Jumpy⁠" Berndtsson has been installed as the new head coach of their Counter-Strike team. The Swedish coach will take over the reins from Klesti "⁠stikle-⁠" Kola, who was relieved of his duties earlier this month after a year on the job.

This will be Jumpy’s first coaching role with a men’s team since his North stint, which ended when the Danish organization ceased operations in February 2021. He returned to coaching last year with G2 Oya, guiding the team for nine months before the organization pulled the plug on its women’s CS division.

A former Counter-Strike pro player with spells on teams like Volt-gaming, Meet Your Makers and FlipSid3 Tactics, Jumpy turned to coaching in 2016. After a brief stint at the helm of Escape, he was offered the head coach position at fnatic, where he replaced Viktor "⁠vuggo⁠" Jendeby. It was with that team that he enjoyed the most success of his coaching career as he won IEM Katowice 2018 and WESG 2017, and reached the semi-finals of the ELEAGUE Major Atlanta.

Sangal part ways with stikle-

The 37-year-old is now entrusted with a team that is currently ranked 108th in the world and that only three months ago made a double roster change as Yasin "⁠xfl0ud⁠" Koç and Ilya "⁠Ganginho⁠" Chernychenko were brought in to replace Max "⁠PANIX⁠" Hangebruch and Can "⁠kyuubii⁠" Ali.

Sangal are slated to face 9INE on Tuesday in their first match in the ESL Challenger League's Group D, which also includes EYEBALLERS, 9 Pandas, KOI and TSM. The team is also competing in YaLLa Compass Spring Contenders and the RES Regional Series 1.
