ruggah completes move to Astralis

ruggah was initially scheduled to join in April, but comes in early after OG and Astralis' failure to qualify for the Copenhagen Major.

ruggah, like Astralis, bowed out of the RMR with defeat

Casper "ruggah" Due has signed for Astralis and will start work as their new head coach immediately, just days after the Danish organization's failure to qualify for the PGL Copenhagen Major.

The former Dignitas and North coach agreed to join Astralis in January but had to wait for his OG deal, set to run out on April 1, to expire before linking up with Nicolai "device" Reedtz and company. An agreement has now been reached for ruggah to join Astralis one month early.

"ruggah comes into a team that is suffering right now," said Sports Director Kasper Straube to Astralis, "but with players of such quality, I have full faith that we will find the formula together."

ruggah added a statement of his own: "I have respect for the fact that it is a task that others have found it difficult to undertake, so while I will make no golden promises, everyone can see the potential in this group and with a strong organization around us, I can’t wait to get started."

Astralis set to install ruggah as new head coach

The wait for ruggah to join led to the now-released temporary coach Mathias "R0nic" Pinholt standing behind Astralis for their failures at IEM Katowice and the EU RMR, after Peter "casle" Ardenskjold was relieved of his duties in December 2023.

An inquest into those failures will be at the top of ruggah's in-tray as he attempts to guide Astralis through their latest storm.

Astralis are now:

Denmark Nicolai "device" Reedtz
Denmark Martin "stavn" Lund
Denmark Benjamin "blameF" Bremer
Denmark Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard
Denmark Victor "Staehr" Staehr

Denmark Casper "ruggah" Due (Head Coach)

Idk about that guy but I did hear how he works, he coached nexa and he talked about it on one of Serbian Esport podcasts. All in all, ruggah has been coaching for 8 years with his biggest title being Blast Premier Fall 2022 groups and Spring sweet Spring, that should tell you enough about his coaching skills.

I do think so actually yeah. These were not that bad of a players. At various points he had Aleksib, mantuu, valde, nbk, issaa, flamez, neofrag, nexa etc Besides that, he never did anything noteworthy with any team he led

Only 2 of the players you mentioned have had any success since leaving og. And the etc is just a bunch of nonames. Og is and was always mid. The initial roster punched way above their weight, but after that it has been on par with the level of players they had.

So you want to convince me that if I coach for 8 years, t2-1.5 teams, and win one single t2 event in those 8 years (with 4 different orgs) and over 25 players I coached, and only 2 of those players are notable after my coaching, I am a good coach? That is some new levels on delusion

Most successful teams have atleast 1 player on the team that is willing to sacrifice for the rest of the team. Faze: Karrigan, (Rain) - G2: Hooxi, nexa - Vitality: Apex. - Spirit: Chopper, magixx. Most people would probably think that a team like Zywoo, donk, m0nesy, s1mple, ropz would be the best team in the world because they are all good individually, but more things are required for a team to be consistent and successful. Astralis dont have any of that, it's very clear to see. No leadership, no tactical game plan, no confidence, just nothing.

they also kicked gla1ve for bad performance at the worst possible time. I think Astralis org really is a problem, could say things about other orgs too also in top 5 atm. That make life very hard for their players. For example even when Astralis had their prime, organisation fucked them up big time. If i remember well they couldn't play a lot of tournaments. Which is why they dropped off in form temporarily
