JUGi announces comeback: "I've missed CS like crazy"

The Danish player is ready to pick up where he left off after leaving the game to compete in Valorant.

JUGi spent the last two years playing Valorant

Former HEROIC and North AWPer Jakob "JUGi" Hansen has announced his return to Counter-Strike after a nearly two-year Valorant spell. The 26-year-old played his last competitive CS match in September 2021 with South.

“I have decided to look for opportunities only in CS2,” he wrote on X/Twitter. “I've missed CS like crazy and I'm really motivated to make a comeback.

“I've been grinding FACEIT a lot lately. Back to the game I love and I'm ready to show the world what I'm capable of once again!”

JUGi burst onto the international scene in 2017 with HEROIC following a controversial transfer from Tricked. He enjoyed an impressive first year of elite-level competition, averaging a 1.16 rating, but he couldn’t find the same consistency in 2018 and 2019 after moving to OpTic and North.

In April 2020, after four months on North’s bench, he was surprisingly picked up by Astralis, initially as a backup option. He ended up being moved into the starting lineup a week later, after Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander had taken a medical leave, but his time with the Danish giants lasted only a month. He was released by the organization at the end of July to make way for Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen.

JUGi went on to play for Complexity in the BLAST Premier Global Final and cs_summit 7 as a replacement for the injured Valentin "poizon" Vasilev. In the summer of 2021, he returned to action with South, but the Danish team disbanded shortly afterward following an unsuccessful search for an organization.

During his time competing in Valorant, JUGi represented only one organization, FOKUS. The team notably finished 5th-6th in VCT 2023 Ascension EMEA, the qualifying tournament for the VCT EMEA partner league.

The mere fact that Astralis signed him in the first place was because of how promising he was. At that particular time in CS, Astralis was considered the top of the food chain.

I would agree but honestly, he was put on a dying opTic team, and a North that was having an identity crisis, so I wouldn't let that define how good he can be as a player

he definetely had good early years, but I wouldnt say that Astralis ruined his talent, as he dropped of way earlier. And especially I would say that in 2020, he was still one of the "hottest prospects"

Like I said, he was playing on OpTic that was going through constant roster changes and North that had no idea what direction they wanted to go in, that's why obv he fell off before Astralis. I do think Astralis didn't give him enough of a chance

Astralis signed him because he was a low cost temporary replacement for their roster that was begging for a break what are you smoking

He was good up untill he joined north. He was probably the biggest danish prospect in 2016 when he played in tricked, was really good in heroic and decent to good in optic.

I am not denying that but when he joined Astralis in 2020, he was far from being anywhere close to being a top player

Which is really not his fault. He joined that 10 man roster of astralis. When valve said "no", he was a bench warmer and when he did play in the roster, they played him as a rifler. He didn't really impress in 2019 I agree, he got wasted by astralis but he had 3 really good years as a player.

That is so far from the truth lmfao, he was the first to stand-in when glaive and xyp took a break, he was terrible from start to finish and eventually let go. His level of play was extremely low in every single match for Astralis and can only blame himself for being booted as fast as he did. He had not played a good game for 3 years up until joining Astralis either, so the verdict of Astralis "ruining" him is hillariously wrong.

From start to finish which was 15 maps in total that he played on a rifle out of position. "He had not played a good game for 3 years up until joining astralis" is also plain wrong. His 2019 was underwhelming, but from 2016 to 2018 he was a very respectable player. He had his moments, he would wiff, but he suffered because of astralis which eventualy led to this 2 year hiatus he took. He played regular cs up untill he joined astralis.

"he played rifle out of position" He joined a lineup with device, you rly think he's dumb enough to believe he would be given the awp instead? LOL Also he had not played a single game of CS after North disbanded until joining Astralis, that would be more than 3 months of no CS that you label as "playing regularly". His stats for 2020 were: 0.93 rating (0.78 impact) His stats for 2019 playing top20 were: 0.99 rating (0.95 impact) - as an awper btw. So no, he was entirely done before joining Astralis

es3tag - got a 1 million transfer move to Cloud9, played for like 3-4 big orgs afterwards while being dogshit at every team except for a short stint while online in Astralis. He should be cleaning stairs bubzkji - got shafted in order for gla1ve to play at the major but got released from his contract like 2 months afterwards. he himself said he got offers from good teams after that but decided to focus on broadcast Buzz - got replaced by 2 top 20 players and is most likely joining Sprout, much better team than the one eh was picked up from Lucky - tier 4 player who is lucky he got to play at astralis whatsoever, went to play for the same team he was picked up from like 1 month after benching Farlig - same as lucky and got transfered to CPH flames after getting benched

It's funny how as soon as Astralis bench or kick someone they are pure evil who "ruined" the player (despite all the players with the exception of botzkji found better or similar teams than what they had been picked up from immediately). Yet teams like liquid, nip, og og big to name a few can change players every other week and plebs wont say shit lol

He should be fine now. Idk if he's recovered to the point of being able to go pro again without issue. Especially since CS has gotten much more travel heavy over the years and he could still relapse. Plus, he's basically washed af, he's basically so out of meta now.

Valorant for pros is dead unless you are in a franchised tier 1 team.

People are saying he was washed after heroic but I’m pretty sure he was in considerably worse situations after heroic. Bad team after bad team and then on astralis’ bench as a back up. He was probably still good honestly. Just didn’t get a chance to shine after heroic

good luck to him,he definitely had good early years, but I wouldnt say that Astralis ruined his talent, as he dropped of way earlier. And especially I would say that in 2020, he was still one of the "hottest prospects"
