Two of the favorites to qualify are now set to clash in the 1-0 pool.

Liquid scraped past BESTIA in their opening matchup

The first day of play at PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR has drawn to a close. With only two losses required to be eliminated from the event, eight teams are now just a single game away from being sent packing in Monterrey. For the ones that have made it to the 1-0 pool, meanwhile, two more wins will be necessary to secure a coveted Major spot.

The most prominent match among the eight games set to be played on day two features FURIA and Liquid duking it out for a place in the 2-0 pool. Although both squads entered this event as favorites to qualify, each team had struggles in their opening game, with FURIA being forced to quell a comeback attempt from Nouns, while Liquid narrowly avoided overtime against Argentine side BESTIA thanks to heroics from Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken.

Other notable matches in the 1-0 pool include M80 taking on Imperial, and Complexity tussling with compatriots BOSS after the latter squad's upset victory over MIBR.

Liquid survive BESTIA scare, Imperial demolish NRG in Mexico

Two teams on the verge of elimination heading into day two are MIBR and NRG, who are now slated to play one another in their elimination matchup. While MIBR found themselves the victim of the aforementioned upset to BOSS, NRG head to the all-important BO3 after being demolished by Imperial in their debut match in Monterrey.

Another notable matchup in the 0-1 pool sees Nouns face off against Legacy. The former had their comeback efforts undermined by FURIA in their opening match, while Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David's men struggled to find even a glimmer of hope after being thrashed by paiN.

this happened cuz valve is too lazy to update their rankings before rmr and liquid are seed 16

its not calculated by that, its the order in which they qualified for the rmr, thats why nrg got 16th seed. cause the team that originally got it, got disqualified cause of cheating, so nrg was filled and it was the last spot. so they were 16th, and liquid is 15th. there is a whole forumula if you just seach major calculator 2024 on google and it'll give you the jist. And the reason, I always imagine them not doing 1v16 / 2v15 etc. because it would be too big of an advantage for the top teams given that the best teams qualify first, getting the top 8 seeds, which in this case liquid got 15th cause they werent playing very well in the qualifiers but they are a very tough team for most of the field. Liquid is just an outlier in this case and you could make the argument that boss was an outlier, they were seeded 11th but i felt they were way better than 11th. but thats just the order is which the qualified. EDIT: its a combination of their form ranking at the time they qualify within qualification days.
